The Veiled Society - your experiences?

Great ideas, needs some extra care on the DM's part.

    More Powerful NPC Classes

Me too. NPCs can have whatever wacky tricks I want them to have, as long as 1) there's a good reason they are able to do them, 2) provides an appropriate challenge for PCs, and 3) fun is had by all.

    1E house rule suggestions

Sure. But you can also adjust the S/N slider relatively easily with any edition, if you wanted to, again, with just a few house rules and DMing style.

    1E house rule suggestions

I've been playing this sort of game from the late 80s in OD&D, on to every edition of the game. It's never required a "house rules doc longer than my arm." I'm convinced *every* edition of D&D can play well anywhere in the spectrum of High Heroic to Grim and Gritty with a combination of a few...

4e Hit Points and pre-4e Hit Points: A Comparison

Flavor wise, there is some difference. 4e characters are more able to recover without "magic" than 3e characters. Mechanistically, however, I noticed that in both editions PCs recover at about the same rate - 3e clerics simply dump all remaining spell slots into healing before resting for the...

What do you want? I'll tell you something -

He's my favorite too. But about the OP, I agree with your post. Although 4e is my preferred system to run, I would play almost any system with a good group of players, and certainly any D&D system. I have fantastic memories from each of OD&D, 2e and 3e.

    Question concerning Luckblade from AV

The power is in no way dependent on making an attack with the weapon itself, so your usage is correct.

    House Rule (Multi-Classing)

Not only barbarians. Actually, swapping at-wills is an incredibly powerful benefit when used in certain combinations. Adding this on top of a paragon path is a significant boost in power from baseline 4e.

    Brakes Off - Multiclassing

Most people consider the power swap feats to be a reasonable deal. At face value, it looks like you're losing out - because essentially you're burning a feat but not gaining any powers. However, the versatility gained by power swapping once or more times is very worth it, depending on your...

Vampires, Pop Culture, and Your Game

As for the poll at hand, I like them all, with a side of "don't really care that much." But can you give some examples of these heroic vampires? Last I heard most vampire depictions in fiction are still bad guys, with a few that go against the grain.

Please stop with the PEACH nonsense

I'm somewhat curious about the hostility to this acronym. There may be a bit of redundancy to it, but isn't that true of vast majority of informal discourse? I have about as much reaction to "PEACH: My new character concept" as "My new character concept, what do you all think," which is to say...
