    I'm back - sort of

Complex compared to most of 1e or 2e? Probably. Requires a good software tool? Not so much.

Rant on Errata and what Wizards need to do to move forward.

Well, it could be worse. It could be like the old editions where the books had just as many issues but no one issued any errata.

    [REDACTED]

I'm perfectly happy with the way things are moderated here. Moderation is fairly subjective anyway, and ENWorld is not some sort of free speech bastion. I consider it akin to having a conversation at a party at someone else's house. The house rules can be as logical or as arbitrary as the...

Implement crit benefits on a power that deals no damage?

It's also in the PHB. "An attack that does not deal damage still does not deal damage on a critical hit." p. 225

    Why I Hate Tokens

I prefer tokens. Minis are expensive, and for some reason if I use the wrong mini, it's really distracting. If I use the wrong token, it's not as big of a deal. I've never had trouble distinguishing them from each other. I also use these for status markers: Alea Tools - Stackable Magnetic...

    cross role multiclassing

Multiclassing across roles is usually fine, and sometimes even makes your primary role better. Hybriding across roles is a bit trickier, and you generally want to do this only when the roles are filled by other people already, and you're a fifth member. Exceptions do exist however.

Implement crit benefits on a power that deals no damage?

    1) If the attack doesn't deal damage, it doesn't deal any extra damage on a crit either. 2) The non-damaging portions of the critical hit still go off.

    Nearly perfect Avenger...

I was thinking the same thing actually... (Also, the anime gets a lot more amusing if you imagine "D" stands for "Dennis.")

D&D 5E (2014) What Should My Next Character Be?

Another vote for cunning bard. A great leader and controller in one.

Herores of the Fallen Lands - Are Slayers underpowered?

I'll let MrMyth carry out the debate, but I'll chime into say that I agree with him that this is just wrong.

Herores of the Fallen Lands - Are Slayers underpowered?

Nova damage calcs, at least those worth anything and/or done on the CharOp boards, DO include miss chances.

    Battlefield archer question?

Yes. FAQ for the Player's Handbook! 25. Does the Battlefield Archer’s Battlefield Experience paragon path feature allow me to designate more than one creature as my quarry with one action? No. This path feature allows you to have more than one creature designated as your quarry, but it...

The difference between martial classes in Core and Essential

Indeed. I would also say frickin' boring. ;) But I've been trying to cram subsystems into fighters since the BECMI days to give them more mechanical interactivity, so your mileage may vary. Others like the simplicity. Means that the lack of dailies / encounters are balanced out sometimes by a...

Opinions wanted: is 'Master at Arms' an expertise feat?

I don't quite understand this compromise. Are you still reducing monster defenses by 1/tier, if they take an expertise feat?

Opinions wanted: is 'Master at Arms' an expertise feat?

This is a bit of a strawman. Who claims this? The point of the expertise feats is to keep a relatively flat hit percentage across all levels, and has nothing to do with a 50/50 hit rate per se.

    Attacks Thru Summons

Neither Psychic Lock nor Bloodhunt apply; a summoned creature counts as your ally, not as you (Arcane Power p.98). For the same reason, Bel's Impending Victory would apply.

Opportunity action & Immediate action question!

    1) You can use them both in the same round. 2) You can use them both on the same target if he triggers both at two points during the round, but they can't happen at the same time (they have completely different triggers). This would be highly unlikely to happen, however.

    Rifts vs D&D

I loved Rifts. Great ideas. Every sourcebook was fun to read. That said, as an RPG it was mechanically very very messy.
