    Is Clothing considered armor...?

Ah, but the primary function of clothes is to be armor. The secondary function is to display status. Any nudist could have cleared this up at the very beginning. Clothing defends angainst the environment. In a very real sense it is armor... only good enough to help protect you from brambles...

    Monster Motivations

In an adventure that I started, but never finished running, there were a pair of bugbear cops. Small town near the 4 corners area of Arizona. The sheriff of the town saw them as Mexican, most of the time. As far as their motivation, they had learned early on that the locals had powerful...

    1st ed ranger conversion?

I tried to google for "1st edition ranger conversion" and got numerous sites for a ford truck. :( I also got the old conversion page. :D All but one of the rangers on that old page was simply a 3.0 varient to "correct" the "flaws" in the 3.0 ranger. There was one link that was...

    Has enthusiasm died?

Yeah, the wealth system is so horrible, that folks on the T20 Traveller message boards are talking about how to incorporate it into the Traveller game. As far as the bullet point questions, I'd have to look again to be sure, but I seem to recall that most of those questions could have been...

Are the new trip rules broken?

How so? You put yourself at risk to perform the trip. As a DM, if the party is getting out of hand with this maneuver, just start throwing more multi-legged creatures, or no legged creature (kind of hard to trip a snake). When you do hit them with bipeds, make sure that there are more of them...

    Has enthusiasm died?

D20M's biggest strength and greatest weakness is that it is more of a toolbox for creating the game you want, rather than flat out handing you a standard game right out of the gate. You need to read all the little bits, the campaign models, magic, psionics, monsters... all of it and then start...

    Has enthusiasm died?

First off, sorry, but I've never done play-by-post, wouldn't know where to begin. Second, perhaps I should expand a bit. Sky Pirates of the South Pacific was inspired by the anime movie Castle in the Sky by Hayao Miazaki. My son loves that movie and has watched it numerous times. In it...

    Using weapons in unusual ways

The rule is that using a weapon in this manner carries a -4 penalty to hit. The reason can be described as the difficulty in using it twisted into an awkward position, smaller striking surface, the need to get farther out of a proper fighting stance, etc.etc.etc. She can use a sap, she can...

    Has enthusiasm died?

I've got the interst, but I'm having some trouble in getting a group together for a campaign. It's a pity, I've got a great idea for a campaign... Sky Pirates of the South Pacific, set in the late 20's. I could suggest that some of the reason for fewer posts on this board versus the standard...

    D&D Miniatures: First impressions

I was standing next to someone who bought a starter and two boosters. The paint didn't look nearly as bad as I expected. I was doing much better paint jobs back when I first learned how than what I saw in those packs, but it was better than I expected. Still and all, I will not be buying any...

Where are these versions that used to be on the old EN site? I didn't realise that any of that was still available.

Would you allow this in your games?

Sounds almost useless for an adventurer, but it might make good protection in a throne room... :p

    Allowing a readied Charge

I think that as long as the DM remembers that a readied action only happens when a precisely defined event triggers it, there is no reason not to allow a readied charge. For the example above, the character could not just round the corner, see opponents, and charge... there needs to be a...

    1st ed ranger conversion?

I wish I could remember just where I found it. It was a while ago, and after I got it, I changed flavor text to suit my campaign. I'm using 3.5 currently, but that would not have much effect on this ranger class. It is so different from 3.X D&D that the difference between 3.0 and 3.5 is trivial.

Masque of the Red Death as a d20 Modern oneshot?

First, why MotRD as a one shot? I would say that there is enough material out there to make it a regular (albeit small) product line... say start with 2 or 3 books (main rules, plus a couple of setting books, like say a guide to Victorian London) followed by new setting books once every 6...

    Iterative sneak attacks?

I say the rogue gets all of their iterative attacks as sneak attacks. In most gmes, the likelihood of circumstances allowing this to occur very often is low, and deffinately within the DM's control. From a logical standpoint, one could say that the rogue has prepared himself and has a...

    D&D 3.x Character conversion from AD&D to 3E

Gee, I used that booklet to convert several characters. The biggest problems that I had were with characters with non-standard abilities, like 1st ed Oriental Adventures type monks or characters built with kits... and let's not even mention Skills & Powers customized classes. Many of the old...
