Star Wars Saga RPG: Square Book? WTF

Each page has only 91% of the surface area of a standard WotC RPG book. In other words, the material printed on 288 pages would have fit on 262 pages. What a rip off!!!!!

    Deflect Arrows

Um, er, yeah... that's exactly what I meant to say.

    Deflect Arrows

Only being able to deflect one per round leaves this a weak feat. So does the requirement to have an open hand. In fact, tht open hand requirement does not make any sense at all. Any monk special weapon should be useable for deflecting. (Well, okay, maybe not shuriken...) After all, one...

    Blood and Guts 2 Questions

Any chance I'll see these at my FLGS anytime soon? Or should I go beat them soundly about the head and shoulders for not having this already?

What are the rules for re-stringing a bow or xbow after snapped string?

Yeah, that works. As far as the bow strings removing themselves... maybe. I had a bow string break on me once. Fiberglass bow with a sharp spot right in the notch for the string. It cut through the loop at one end, i had to remove the loop at the other end. As far as restringing goes, it...

    Pinpointing area spells

Ah, but the area of effect did not change in size... it was still feet, not yards. Bouncing lightnig bolts :) I once had a dungeon where the wizard in charge had carefuly built the corridors to bounce the bolts at invading PC's before they even knew he was around, and before they could do...

Does anyone still play Dragon Star?

That really is an elegant solution to the problem. I have long thought that the d20 system in general needed a good mechanic for the one-shot-one-kill idea of sniping. Iaijutsu focus works beautifully as the mechanism.

    Pinpointing area spells

Gaaa. You young whippersnappers don't know just how easy things are these days. Why, back in 1st edition, a fireball spell always covered its full 33'000 cubic foot volume. If that meant it was going to travel 330' down a 10' x 10' corridor well then that's just what happened. I remember...

Rules for character cost of social status?

For quite some time now I have been tinkering on a set of rules for just that. Basically, one of the players wanted to run a game centering around nobility and intrigue. i started with the old 2nd ed book A Mighty Fortress, which has a 3 -18 range for social status, along with a monthly upkeep...

What do you get out of your pagans?

Well, I chose my name for a reason... I'll be happy to answer any specific questions you might have. Sadly, I don't get much use of magic in Modern, most of the folks that I game with want a "realistic" world.

Star Wars Saga Edition [SECR] Preview #2 is Up

A while back, I was running a very Japanese-ish samurai in a standard D&D game. Poetry, ainting and origami were almost as important to the character as iaijutsu focus.

Does anyone still play Dragon Star?

Lately, a friend of mine has been getting some of the DS books from me for birthdays and Yule, along with hints that this would be a neat game for our group to play sometime...

    D&D 3.x Monk 3.5

A non sequitur and a contradiction in short order. Part of the point of being impossible to hit is getting the bad guys to waste resources in trying to hit you. And asking the wizard to just stand there and bleed isn't very good judgement!

    Recognize a specific creature/animal

Oh, yeah. If the worg the party is trying to recognize has a distictive feature, like half an ear, or a major scar across its face, then the whole thing is a lot easier. Especially if one of the party members put that scar there in the first place!

    Recognize a specific creature/animal

Well, in the real world, every tiger has distintive markings. Other animals, like lions or bears do not have such distinctive markings and require more time to learn to recognize one individual from another. Since worgs are not real world animals, there is a very real question as to just how...

    D&D 3.x Monk 3.5

Fair enough... I am assuming a MM standard ogre and a dex based 8th level monk (as per the earlier post talking about the giant with the ogre minions). With Weapon Finesse and flurry of blows, the monk is going to be attacking at +9, +9, +4 against the ogre's AC of 16. Without brining...

Why does the paladin multiclassing rule exist?

If you want to solve the problem with minimum chance to the system, just give a bonus feat to every monk and paladin, allowing them to choose one class that they can freely multiclass with. One of the reasons that I had heard given for the rule was that paladins and monks have to be focused and...

    Recognize a specific creature/animal

Just how much interaction has the party had with worgs in general and this worg in particular? If the party has only had a couple of rounds of combat, I would not even give them a roll. If they have had some actual interaction with that worg, and they have had the opportunity to encounter...

Star Wars Saga Edition [SECR] Preview #1 is Up

Actually, I can normally add up all the relavent numbers about as fast as I can read the number off the die, but then, I'm always the person in my group who knows the rules, so I always know what mods are applicable, and I have them ready as one number to add to the die roll. Of course, I also...
