    Dishes at the Tavern

The choices would be both seasonal and regional. (Assuming that the world is actually advanced enough to have regular inns and food serving taverns, that is.) Most places would have only a couple of options at best, many places would have only one option at a meal. If you are not there at...

    D&D 3.x Monk 3.5

Well, how about all of them? 4th level - ki strike (magic), 10th level - ki strike (lawful), and 16th level - ki strike (adamantine). Bye bye DR. WRT the ogre minions mentioned earlier... A dex monk with a dex of 18, 10 str 10 con can singlehandedly fight and kill the ogre, even before taking...

Star Wars Saga Edition [SECR] Preview #1 is Up

It's not that much of a problem IF the people in the game (and especially the GM) actually know the rules and are capable of simple addition without taking their shoes and socks off. Combat only slows down when you have people at the table that can't be bothered to read any of the rules. Of...

    D&D 3.x Monk 3.5

Ah, no. The real mistake is to try an force the monk into the roll of main front line fighter. That roll is best filled by a paladin, ranger, barbarian or (strangely enough) a fighter. On of the best and most amusing descriptions of a monk that I have seen is as a helicopter gunship. Move in...

Immovable rod in sword hilt? You have to read

Well, if you impale your opponent by starting low and thrusting upward, he'd have a hard time getting himself of the blade...

    Star wars SAGA cover?

True, but then there is the stuff like precognition, telekinesis, Jedi mind control tricks, and just using the Force to do anything it takes to advance the plot along...

    Star wars SAGA cover?

Ah, finally after all this time... a chance to go out and spend lots of money getting new editions of all those books I already own. :D But seriously, I really liked the idea of having just one skill Use the Force, rather than 25 differnet skills, each of which a Jedi should be good at.

    D20 Modern Lich

Oops, I had completely forgotten about incantations. So I guess that a lich is doable after all.

    D20 Modern Lich

The biggest problem is that d20 Modern cuts off spell casting at 5th level... without the higher level spells, can you even create a lich? It is a neat idea, I might try and use it once I finally start running a pulp era game.

    Adamant's "Mars" setting...when?

Wow! I come back after a too, too long hiatus and this is the very first thread that I happened to read. Woo-Hoo! I loved reading and rereading the ERB Barsoom series when I was young. This is great news.

Just going along with the DM

My last D&D campaign fell apart because I was not railroading the characters into an adventure. I had given one of them a task from his church (cleric, obviously) and the rest tagged along for fun and a few silver pieces. Once that finised, they were on their own for finding adventure. I gave...

    What maps do you want?

    Bummer. I never buy PDF's. I don't buy anything I can't look at before I buy, either.

Do you let your players know your House Rules?

I generally do not tell the players exactly what they are facing, unless it is something that the charcters would know. I sometimes change cerain things about some of the monsters, and I write up my own as well. I've had players upset because of things that could not be revealed ("how could...

Did WOTC make money with COC d20?

Yeah, even if they just wanted to take their old stuff and slap some d20 stats on it, they would have sold a lot. One problem, they needed to have something out the door within a month or two of D20CoC being released. By failing in that simple task, they missed a big window of opportunity. I...

    What maps do you want?

Forgot to add, a working cattle ranch (not a richy's play ranch).

    What maps do you want?

Are these just little maps in a book or are we talking about 5' = 1" squares on a battle mat kind of thing? As a battle mat, I'd love to see a good diner, a couple of fast food places, a service station, an apartment building, several suburban homes, a mobile home. I don't see much need for...

    Pulp Cthulhu no longer d20

Hmmph. I am trying to start a pulp era game using both d20 Modern and Adventure! rules. Had a d20 Pulp Cthulhu been available, I would have gotten it, even if only for background material. I have been looking on their web site to see when the San Fransisco source book would finally be coming...

    BESM D20: Stingy vs Revised

I don't know if it has been corrected yet, but there was a printing error in the BESM D20 Revised book that ended up leaving most of the unrevised material in there. GoO has been unbelievably great in dealing with this error, and had offered to buy back the misprinted books... and when have you...

Using Some d20 Modern feats in D&D

Of course, Combat Martial Arts is the first step in the Martial Arts tree, with Improved and Advanced Combat Martial Arts allowing you to threaten on a 19 - 20 for x3 damage. That makes it a little better for the fighter who has everything. For D&D, I'd really like to have the ICMA and ACMA...

Underpowered Guns in d20 Modern (rant, long)

Anybody remember Agincourt? The flower for French chivlary, plate armor and all, died under a hail of arrows. .50 bullets ought to be a little better at going through armor than an arrow. Of course, the English archers had the wit to set up behind stakes, and the knights had to cross a vast...
