OotS #709 is up! No Scry Zone

Yep, basically a transition to a different plotline... that also doesn't involve any of the main protagonists :erm:. (Plus a bit more info about that ritual. I'm not ignoring that, but it seems like the payoff on that bit won't be for some time.)

    OotS #707 is up

What would it be in real life? Treat him with caution and possibly even detain him, certainly. Summary execution without, not only a trial, but evidence of any kind? Not so much. I'm pretty Chaotic compared to most people I know, but saying "screw the rules" is for clear-cut cases. That's...

    OotS #707 is up

Well, given that Cadfan's version at least matches what was seen on panel, that alone makes it preferable to this interpretation. Where does he "show", as opposed to speculate, about how the hobgoblin is a weasel (much less a "weasle", whatever that is), or "get the paladins to approve?". The...

    OotS #707 is up

I had the same reaction, and was pretty sure it was intentional on Rich's part. I'm surprised and a little disturbed by all the approving responses here. I'm not saying they should have automatically trusted this guy but the way he was treated here was exactly the sort of bigotry that the goblin...

    Avalanche Press: Best Books?

I was just going to say they were the Evony of their day.

    Order of the Stick 705

You say that as though it hadn't long since already happened. It's been a story driven strip for much longer than it was ever a gag-a-day one. (Considering the first hints of the change were back in #13, and it was already in full swing by #200 or so, and here we are at #705...)

    Order of the Stick 705

Almost certainly not; I don't see why people are trying so hard to read one into it.

    Order of the Stick 705

The story's been much more important than the humour for quite some time now. (Not that the latter is gone; I certainly got a good groan out of the "graveyard shift" pun). The real problem is that the story gets hard to follow when it's so often something like ten days between installments.

    Oots 704

I agree, but I don't think Rich is particularly guilty on this score.

    Oots 704

I didn't mean anything deep by it (much less anything that would justify the more heated posts that followed.) It's just hard for me to reconcile calling oneself "Professor" anything with considering "skull-crushingly wordy" a criticism - or even something it would ever cross one's mind to say...

Between your username and your sig, don't you think it's a little weird for you to be saying this as though it were a bad thing?

    Quick dice probability question

These two should be the same, shouldn't they? So at least one of these numbers is wrong.

    OoTS 703 is up

Are you sure you're crunching those numbers correctly? With the number of updates that have taken nearly two weeks, like this one, I find it hard to believe they don't drag the average down significantly; you're saying he's averaged a little better than two a week (meaning he'd have to have done...

    OoTS 703 is up

It seems quite natural to me that the strips where nothing much happens would go over better if we didn't have to wait nearly two weeks for them. (Well, from the goblins' point of view something very big happened this time, but it's not clear whether or how it affects the main plot. It doesn't...

No more WotC Star Wars - announcement

For some reason, when I click on the link nothing happens. I have to actually paste it into my browser. EDIT: Never mind, problem was fixed while I was typing this.

    OotS 701 is up!

I still think this more likely. In particular, the fifth and sixth panels are an obvious (well, obvious if you've read Start of Darkness) reference to his brother.

What do your parents (currently) think of D&D?

No, I pretty much won the mom lottery where this kind of stuff is concerned. I had her into D&D by the time I was 13 or so; in what may or may not be proof that I was a bit more mature than other people that age, I have never, ever been embarrassed by this, in fact I pretty much always thought...

What do your parents (currently) think of D&D?

Well, she mainly knows D&D. She's been in several of my campaigns. But I'm pretty sure it's not the only RPG she'd consider.

What do your parents (currently) think of D&D?

My dad: doesn't really get it, but is just as happy I get as much enjoyment out of it as I do. My mom: wishes she could find a game with people her age.
