Cloaktrick Rogue: Worst named mini ever?

Don't know about the name being silly but the mini itself is a bit silly-looking, sort of a poor man's version of: http://www.reapermini.com/FigureFinder#detail/02782

    The d2: Thoughts?

There are ways of doing odd-numbered dice that are unquestionably fair, e.g. numbering a conventional d10 from 1 to 5 twice as a d5 or dice like these: http://groups.msn.com/DiceManiacsClubakaTheRandomFandom/alexandersdice.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=5110 If D&D mandated them, they would soon...

4E DM's screen: anyone got it?

My understanding is that WotC were not happy with the cardboard stock proposed by the printers who needed more time to source the heavier card stock WotC wanted.

    The d2: Thoughts?

A coin is not a d2 though it can be used as one and there are d2s that are coin-like: http://groups.msn.com/DiceManiacsClubakaTheRandomFandom/alexandersdice.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=4653 Returning to the topic at hand, not only am I in favour of d2s, I'd like to see more dice used in D&D...

Your real life girlfriend? A real life proposal? Ooooh, that is dorky! :p What did she say?

    Rapiers

True. I should have clarified that the idea of breaking a rapier held in a guard such as Capoferro's or Fabris' prima with one stroke of a longsword isn't realistic. Many gamers with no experience of historical swordplay imagine that you can simply cut through a held out rapier blade with a...

    The Elfish Gene

Not upcoming; it's been out for ages. There was a thread about it on these boards when it came out. The author contributed to the thread.

    Dice Questions?

All the gamers at my D&D club are adults (18+). The other day, my T-shirt was older than at least one of the gamers at my table. The shirt, a Lone Wolf one I bought in 1985, was several years older than one of the gamers who's around 19 years old. At least I can take some pride in the fact...

    Rapiers

I do historical European swordsmanship as a martial art and was sparring with a bastard sword (actually, Italian longsword) against a swordsman with a rapier a couple of weeks ago. The rapier swordsman held up very well indeed. Rapiers grant their user an extended reach making it extremely...

    London Bridge is falling down

I was brought up in London and remember it as "London Bridge is falling down" etc followed by the part about iron and steel above.

    *Lesser* polearm gamble - suggestions?

Funny you should say that! I was thinking along the same lines but couldn't decide on -2 or -4. :)

    *Lesser* polearm gamble - suggestions?

I really like the idea of the polearm gamble feat. It makes sense that closing with a polearm fighter is tricky. Polearm gamble is a paragon feat and I'd like to offer my players something similar but less powerful for their heroic characters. Any suggestions as to how, and how much, to nerf...

You don't like the new edition? Tell me about it!

I enjoy 4E but I have to agree with you about the core races. That bugs me too. I'm also disappointed by the absence of certain classes; barbarians, druids and swashbucklers in particular. And I'm angry about the missing monsters in the MM: frost giants, clay golems, centaurs, pegasi and...

    natural XX

I have a reproduction of a similar die from the reserve collection of the Louvre Museum in Paris. You are correct that they are the Greek letters used in Ptolemaic times for the numbers 1 to 20. According to F. N. David's book Gods, Games and Gambling, other icosahedral Roman dice of this period...

D&D 4E 4e Character sheet on the WotC site...

Prince Nightchilde, Thanks for the 'heads up'! ;) I was hoping they'd put up a character record sheet so I wouldn't have to flatten my PHB on a photocopier, but didn't know they had. Now, I can print off the PDF and xerox that instead (permission is granted on the sheet).

    London Dungeon tonight! Who's going?

You've been missed. Hope you can make it one of these Saturdays. I'm running a 4E game if you're interested. ;) LOL! :D The London Dungeon would be phenomenal. But I suspect WotC paid a pretty penny for its use, way more than we could afford.

    London Dungeon tonight! Who's going?

I played the dwarf and had a fabulous time due in no small part to you and the other players at my table. Thank you very much for running the game. It was smashing! I'll second that. It was very well organised. The venue couldn't be beaten, I played 4E and got to meet Rob Heinsoo. What more...

    What are your house rules?

They're deviations from the RAW but not changes to the mechanics. I don't know what to call them except "house rules". Perhaps there should be two types of house rule: the game mechanic type and the flavour type. Probably not but I'll see how that pans out. I'm too much of a Euclidean to allow...
