What are you reading in 2025?

I just started The Runelords series by David Farland aka Dave Wolverton. I had read it back in the late 90s but found an omnibus ebook and decided to re-read it. I was shocked to see that he died in 2022 after a fall and head injury.

What are you reading in 2025?

There is no disciplinary action taken. If they never turn in the assignment, then they get a 50. In most cases, even the 5 day late acceptance is waived and they are given time at the end of the quarter to complete assignments. The parents are not even notified if the kid is missing...

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

No. I consider the entire AI LLM industry a pack of pirates that ingest information, train their models, make bank, and provide zero return to the people who created the content that trained their engine.

What are you reading in 2025?

On another note, I just finished Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. It is a fun read although I had forgotten I had previously read it until I was halfway through the book.

What are you reading in 2025?

I still disagree since the education industry has been pushing college as the only method to get ahead since the 80s and have removed most of the vocational studies from schools. The main thread for decades has told kids that their are worthless without a college degree. I still see that as the...

What are you reading in 2025?

I do not pay attention to Hugo awards. I discovered a long time ago that the award in no way matches the type of book I may enjoy. I like to browse books at the bookstore. I love the experience of exploring the shelves, seeing a cover or title that interests me, reading the blurb and taking a...

What are you reading in 2025?

No. I see nothing that indicates that anyone is teaching that intellectual pursuits are not masculine. I see a lot of boys being turned off from education due to how they are treated in school and a lack of engagement with the material and methods being used to teach. When my son was in 4th...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

I do it blame the freeloading mentality that much. It has been part of the culture for many years. The DM buys the content and sometimes the group chips in a few bucks. At the end of the day, this is the culture that arose around the game. A player does not need much mater and only 1 in 5...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

I would be up for a 2e game. I have not played 2e since 2011.

What are you reading in 2025?

It has nothing to do with boys or girls or being embarrassed over covers. In fact, almost all the covers are talentless, no art, mess that shows nothing about what the book may contain. I enjoy romantic fantasy like Valdemar. I detest poorly written romantasy like Fourth Wing. I read it. It was...

How Will The New Tariffs Affect TTRPG Prices?

There was a shift to cheaper labor and production in China. This increased margins and slowed price increases. It is not just companies that chose to move production to China, we also had US printers move plants to China to increase their own margins. Add to this that many print shops like...

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – Riverbank, Woodlander, Ryecroft, and more

I hope it does well. It is not really of interest to me, but I like Kobold and I wish them the best.

D&D General What Bits of History Inspire Your Homebrew Setting?

I do not but I will check it out. The campaign takes place in a remote region so they just fended off an attack my sea and will soon be hit by first wave migration. The eruption also re-opened a path to the Aethyr that had been sealed in the last cataclysm 3000 years ago so they are also about...

D&D General What Bits of History Inspire Your Homebrew Setting?

Currently, my campaign is inspired by the bronze age collapse. A volcanic eruption and earthquakes have shattered the civilized empires and now "sea peoples," mass migration, and anarchy are changing the landscape of the regions.

What are you reading in 2025?

Cool. I have the ebooks for it and will pick it up soon. I wanted a change after the 7 book epic. I was surprised I had not known about the series when it came out, but it was a happy discovery.

What are you reading in 2025?

I just finished the following series. Saga of the Seven Suns by Kevin Anderson. It was a good space opera with some interesting characters. Deed of Paksennarion by Elizabeth Moon. I re-read it after the Paksworld announcement. World Quake by Mark Hobson, an epic disaster trilogy that had the...

What are you reading in 2025?

On purpose. I do not pay attention to all the culture war mess on the internet. I stopped participating in it around 2012ish when my son was born. I notice that it has made so many people and friends bitter and unhappy. The only way to win is not to play at all.

What are you reading in 2025?

People on ENW really focus on this one. The only place I have heard about this sad puppy mess is on this site.

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone else dislike the "keyword" style language of 5.24?

A friend has been running 5.5 and I see no improvement from 5e to 5.5 in terms of language or rules understanding. We are using DDB as well and we have not seen any improvement. The tightening of the language has not improved the understanding of the rules at the table and the organization is...
