How do you put aside your own feelings when reading?

It is a badly worded question because art should make you feel or evoke an emotional response. I do not set aside my feelings but I also do not let my opinions or biases affect whether I will consume content. If the story or writing is good, then I will let it transport me to that world and I...

How do you put aside your own feelings when reading?

I did not read it as passing judgement and the poster admitted that English is a second language. I think it is a problem is a person cannot handle reading about differing viewpoints. Note: I am not lumping in trauma issues like being a survivor of a trauma and not being able to read those...

How do you put aside your own feelings when reading?

I’d have to say the game. The game play was fun but the story was and town were a mess.

How do you put aside your own feelings when reading?

Anthem was required reading in High School in the early 90s. I enjoyed it then but that was 30+ years ago. I have not read any of her other stuff.

How do you put aside your own feelings when reading?

No. It is not difficult. I was taught to keep an open mind and think critically. People should be open to challenging their views. If the writing is bad, like Star Wars Aftermath, or if the editing is bad, then I may not continue with the book. If the story is good even if the writer does not...

D&D General Chris Perkins and Stan! - previous D&D edition thoughts

I disagree. An hour gives you time to clean or repair equipment, eat or drink, maybe remove armor and rest, care for animals. Pray or study. 15 minutes is not a rest after exploring and combat.

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

I do not care for indices. I rarely use them unless I am frustrated that I cannot find what I need in the book. If I have to use the index, then the book has already failed. I find a lot of accessibility issues with the print organization. I work on accessibility in publishing tech as one of my...

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

I do not disagree with the lists. I just think they are not as accessible as better organization that also promotes a tighter TOC. It feels like they did not care because people will use an e-version.

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

You should not have to scan a tiny print index to find the page numbers for a monster. They could do Devil, Vrock and find it naturally.

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual Organisation

Yes, but you apparently can organize files correctly, which used to be basic training for entry level folks. I weep for the future.

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?

    D&D 5E (2024) Lycanthropes in the MM

5.5….more loss of flavor sacrificed for what exactly? This feels exactly like the move to 3.5.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

Total revenue versus the final profit after expenses are different. They only got 60% of the cash from the first week of release and then the theaters got ever more percentage of the take. Additionally, they took out a loan to buy the property and owed interest on it so that added expense to the...

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

Doubtful. I think you'll end up seeing it move to VR D&D. It may not be dice rolls etc but you'll have that group of friends playing a session cooperatively. You may even have a DM working with AI to craft a story or sandbox.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

Unsure. It was the only one I backed to state that they were moving to 5.5 and then people stated they wanted the books in 5.0. Looks like they ended up giving people a choice of 5e or 5.5 in print with a PDF of both versions. I appreciated that they took that route. It was good CS.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

I own A5E and all of EN Publishing content and do not use it. I collect RPGs and print books. I am not trying to ‘show up’ or prove anything. None of my players have purchased 5.5 because they only buy stuff I run.

Collector. I have the alt covers and normals just in case I am ever in a place where I get to play and someone wants to run 5.5.

WotC Mike Mearls: "D&D Is Uncool Again"

I am in a KS where the creators said they are going to switch the books to 5.5. They had to go back to 5.0 because the backers revolted.
