    D&D 5E (2014) Are the databases down?

What "database"? I am not aware of a single unmistakable "the" databases pertaining to 5e D&D.

D&D 5E (2014) How do you restrain a captured spellcaster?

not really related, but back in the day, when the 3E books were very new, we were playing a game, and some NPCs captured a wizard and beat him up because "you guys can't use your spells after you've been beaten unconscious, isn't that right?" and he responded "not since third edition came out"...

D&D 5E (2014) Ranger Stealth - If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.???

No, but it's reasonable for people to take "your decision is wrong" as "you should make a different decision".

D&D 5E (2014) Ranger Stealth - If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.???

"The wrong decision" sounds a whole lot like "this other way is the right way to do it" which sounds a whole lot like "this other way is how you should do it".

D&D 5E (2014) Ranger Stealth - If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.???

Well, one reason might be that the thing would be of use to them, because you understand ways in which they differ from you. People have different premises and different goals in gaming. Telling people they should do the thing your way, without first finding out what they're trying to...

D&D 5E (2014) Ranger Stealth - If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.???

The context was someone advocating that you should never make someone roll unless there's an observer. In the context of such a policy, you've given the player information, and humans are incredibly bad at accurately evaluating how they would behave without a piece of information. This has been...

D&D 5E (2014) Ranger Stealth - If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.???

This doesn't make any sense to me. If I tell a player that the sword they're holding is getting hot enough to burn them, they can drop it. If I don't tell them, they can drop it anyway. So clearly, it doesn't matter whether or not I tell them, as it doesn't change their available actions...

D&D 5E (2014) Ranger Stealth - If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.???

Yeah. But players have more fun if they are not getting obvious metagame information that tells them whether or not there are observers. So I tend to use passive checks consistently, or active checks consistently, but not "you only roll when there's an observer".

D&D 5E (2014) Ranger Stealth - If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.???

I tend to make people roll consistently, because otherwise having to roll tells you there's something observing you...

Did you mean: Legend of Grimrock

D&D 5E (2014) Do you allow fan made material in your games?

I don't think I've ever played a D&D game without SOME kind of fan-made stuff in it. Spells picked up off Usenet, character classes players designed to fit the setting, whatever.

D&D 5E (2014) What do Shrieker parts do?

In Dungeon Master, they were an early food source.

D&D 5E (2014) Need fun cursed sword ideas!

consider pinking shears. now make a pinking sword: it cuts zig-zag lines, even when you move it in a straight line. not sure it's a curse, but it's certainly confusing.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you embrace the silly?

I will generally run with it. One of my players made a luchador. He has enemies, which is why he is always masked. Recently, there was an encounter with thugs. They recognized him (because he was wearing his mask). So they attacked him. The thugs attacking him switched from short swords to...

Dragonlance Dragonlance: Is it possible to run a Dragonlance game using the current core rules and material?

Then you'll be glad to know that none of your speculations as to my motives have any relation to my goals. I actually asked the question because I was curious as to whether it was answerable. I haven't seen anyone articulate a thing that would prevent running a Dragonlance game. Yes, the...

Dragonlance Dragonlance: Is it possible to run a Dragonlance game using the current core rules and material?

Everyone's answer is an unambiguous "yes, of course you can, it's easy". I'm the only one pointing out the elephant in the room, which is that there's nothing that anyone has suggested which could explain a circumstance under which it wouldn't be possible, and indeed easy, to run a popular D&D...

Dragonlance Dragonlance: Is it possible to run a Dragonlance game using the current core rules and material?

Yes. I have pretty much the entire original run, even including the module that was actually a board game. From your question, I infer that the answer is "no, no one can give me an example of a thing that would prevent you from running it", because presumably if there were a specific issue...

Dragonlance Dragonlance: Is it possible to run a Dragonlance game using the current core rules and material?

I'm having trouble understanding the question. Could someone give me an example of a thing that could conceivably prevent you from running anything you wanted that was sort of fantasy-setting-ish with the rules and material? Obviously, you might have to add material for a setting, but that's...

D&D 5E (2014) Forgotten Realms is being BETRAYED by Wizards

See, I didn't interpret it as "directed at another poster", just directed at a general class of things. I can think of a couple of posters that I associate with posts somewhat similar in tone, but I wouldn't be comfortable saying "this was definitely directed at [X] specifically". ... I also...
