D&D 5E (2014) Can a spell be cast to cause non lethal damage?

I would say that a melee spell attack is a subtype of melee attack, and also a subtype of spell attack, but that it's definitely a melee attack.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragon+ -- any reasonably accessible way to read this?

I think I figured out how to get it to show me an article, and it looks like clicking on an article shows you a scrolly text thing of it I think? But this is not how web pages or PDFs or anything usually work.

New UA Paladin Sacred Oaths are Oath of Conquest and the Oath of Treachery

Have any two UA PDF files had names that used the same numbering/naming convention?

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragon+ -- any reasonably accessible way to read this?

I am pretty sure some people buy physical magazines. Heck, I might be one of them if they had one. But mostly, I really don't want gaming content to be stuck in some kind of crazy proprietary thing. I want a working download I can keep and continue using in the future, or I'm not going to use it...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragon+ -- any reasonably accessible way to read this?

Dragonmag is the thing I encountered. I really don't know why they have this instead of a legible document.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragon+ -- any reasonably accessible way to read this?

Which is to say: PDF or HTML or something as a plain download, rather than their gratuitously complicated and unusable web interface? Not an "app". Just a document I can read.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragging a fallen comrade to 'safety' isn't safe

The question is why you start attacking the moment someone's dragged away, when you wouldn't if they were just lying there.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragging a fallen comrade to 'safety' isn't safe

That sounds like a really good way to make a game frustrating and unfun for the players. I'd rather just have a reasonably consistent rule that makes sense, and I don't think being dragged around provokes more attacks than just lying there unconscious.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragging a fallen comrade to 'safety' isn't safe

If that works, then you'll see PCs grappling people and dragging them past all the other PCs for the multiple free attacks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragging a fallen comrade to 'safety' isn't safe

It's not as though "being dragged" is any more provoking than "just lying there unconscious". Voluntary movement provokes. Involuntary movement doesn't.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dragging a fallen comrade to 'safety' isn't safe

I don't usually think that involuntary movement provokes. So dragging the ally doesn't make them provoke.

D&D 5E (2014) DM Help! My rogue always spams Hide as a bonus action, and i cant target him!

I am very confused by this. So far as I know, you're allowed to guess and attack blindliy.

    D&D 5E (2014) Can monks still punch?

So, with "unarmed strike" removed from the weapons table, it's no longer a "simple weapon". Tavern Brawler gives proficiency with unarmed strike. Monk doesn't. Since I'm the GM, I'm just handwaving this as "don't be silly of course monks have proficiency in unarmed strike", but it seems to me...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Fighter: Samurai, Sharpshooter, Arcane Archer & Knight

I think the distinction is "but not a crossbow".

D&D 5E (2014) Your one best piece of GM/DM advice?

Improvising: What you look for twice exists. This produces incredible verisimilitude despite making no sense at all. But the things people are pretty sure should exist generally do.

D&D 5E (2014) Why is WoTc still pushing AP's when the majority of gamers want something else?

On the one hand, I don't think it's super productive to criticize people personally. On the other hand, I don't think I've seen a thread from Corpsetaker since I got here that was not on the topic of "everything Wizards does is not what I want, they need to stop, here's why: I don't like it."...

D&D 5E (2014) DM Help! My rogue always spams Hide as a bonus action, and i cant target him!

Part of the confusion is probably that "hidden" isn't really a state exactly. It's a description of your state with regards to a particular entity. Consider the pillar case. You are west of a pillar. There's two entities, one further west of you, one east of you. The one to the east can't see...

D&D 5E (2014) DM Help! My rogue always spams Hide as a bonus action, and i cant target him!

To be picky, making noise only reveals your location to things which can hear, and even then only if there's a way for the noise to reach them. And it's not absolute. Consider that you can move from one cover to another and remain hidden. "Hidden" is more complicated than "no one has line of...

D&D 5E (2014) DM Help! My rogue always spams Hide as a bonus action, and i cant target him!

No, this isn't right. If you are not currently observed, and you don't Hide, someone who comes into the room observes you. If you aren't currently observed, and you Hide, they have to make a perception check or something similar. "Can try to hide" means you get to roll hide and may become...
