This is deep cut, still felt deeply in Edmonton.

Pathfinder 2E What Are The Changes In Pathfinder Remastered?

I’m only bothered by the mental adjustment I need to make. Lots of Pathfinder was still D&Disms, and those are seared into my brain for decades now, so it’ll be a bit of a struggle. BUT overall I’m happy with these changes

    Dragon Reflections #68

I’m a fan of the “illusion of randomness” approach. As long as the area wasn’t massively different, I’d keep using the same pregenerated weather anyway

The Final Open RPG Creator (ORC) License Is Here!

I’m excited by this, but I’m also not a lawyer or publisher, so most of the details are lost on me. It really seems like 5E going to Creative Commons took a lot of the impact out of this project, but choices and redundancy in the world of open gaming are probably still a good thing

    D&D 5E (2014) Phandelver & Below's Full Description

Personally I much prefer a localized campaign, centered around a specific area, than the ridiculous road-trip adventures that were Tyranny of Dragons and Storm King’s Thunder. Both of those felt like they were designed by committee to have the adventure visit as many popular Forgotten Realms...

    D&D 5E (2024) "The Future of D&D" (New Core Books in 2024!)

It’s Windows 10 all over again, lol. They want to keep their existing customer base comfortable while also updating the design and maintaining the revenue stream, so they’re switching to iterative improvements rather than major updates. In theory, there might not be a clear move from 5E to...

Pathfinder 2E What Are The Changes In Pathfinder Remastered?

This is an important point worth repeating. It makes a lot of sense for Paizo distinguish PF2 from 5E, given that the whole discussion of “Monsters: To scale with level or not to scale with level? That is the question” is entirely a matter of genre, style, and preference.

Paizo News: PaizoCon Online Wrap Up

Valid question! I would think the Beginner Box is lean enough. But it will likely get a redo within the next couple years, I’m guessing.

Paizo News: PaizoCon Online Wrap Up

Not to dunk on WotC unnecessarily here, but I think you’re objectively giving them too much credit here. Those “early 5E modules” you mentioned? Those were ALL pre-5E products from the D&D Next period (a.k.a. the playtesting gap between 4E and 5E). These weren’t exactly strong support for old...

Pathfinder 2E What does Pathfinder lack?

I love how tactical PF2 is, but sometimes I wish combat was deadlier and character creation was faster. But I might be crazy—an OSR-style version of PF2? It’s an impossible dream.

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Shares Color Covers Of Pathfinder Remaster

Ah yes, I forgot PF2 is remaking their dragons to shed that element of the OGL. The classic chromatic and metallics are being replaced with two each for each of the four source of magic (arcane, divine, occult, and primal) for a total of eight new dragons. (This is assuming I read this somewhere...

D&D General What's The Practically Complete Guide to Dragons?

Word. But kids are the target audience, not veteran gamers, right?

D&D General What's The Practically Complete Guide to Dragons?

Yeah but based on the info above, it’s not based on the 3.5E Draconomicon, it’s just based on some previously published kids’ books. 128 page hardcover, and I bet it will be digest sized. While it will surely be a fun read, if you’re posting on these forums I’m pretty sure you won’t get much use...

D&D General D&D Book Prices Are Going Up

People keep saying “inflation”, but just like with groceries, I’m convinced most of the cause is corporate greed.
