    D&D 5E (2024) Take A Closer Look At The 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide

For what it’s worth, nobody seems to be talking about the most mechanically interesting dragons that WotC published in D&D: the (chromatic dragons from 2011’s Monster Vault (a core product 4E’s Essentials product line). By 2011, WotC had finally nailed down their monster math for 4E, and they...

D&D 5E (2014) Upcoming D&D Tidbits: Phandelver, Book of Many Things, Venger, & More!

I’d accept that solution. Emphasize some language about it being “extra difficult” to cross into Eberron’s sphere, and that would be plenty enough for we Eberron purists to keep things clean.

D&D 5E (2014) Upcoming D&D Tidbits: Phandelver, Book of Many Things, Venger, & More!

🤢 bleh, please no. Eberron is beautiful and perfect as it is, and tossing it into the melting pot with everything else can only diminish it. Maybe Planescape fans want to hop in and out of Eberron, but I struggle to imagine a knowledgeable Eberron fan wanting to dilute the cosmology. Thirteen...

ToV Project Black Flag Reveal Its Official Title: 'Tales of the Valiant'!

This is 100% just gonna be called “Valiant” by most people within a year anyway.

ToV Project Black Flag Reveal Its Official Title: 'Tales of the Valiant'!

I’ve been participating and providing feedback on the Black Flag playtest, and one thing that frustrates me is that their playtest surveys are pretty flimsy. They definitely are NOT asking enough detailed, specific questions. (I don’t relish praising WotC but their playtest surveys are MEATY.)

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D's Upcoming Digital Tabletop

Cheers! Yeah I can see real value in having a dedicated environment for the ruleset. My disappointment lies in the fact that I love hacking the rules of the games I play, so locking it strictly to RAW will be a negative to me. (Also I like to play enough games that aren’t 5E, but I’d like to...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D's Upcoming Digital Tabletop

It looks beautiful, but I’ve been hurt before. Especially by Hasbro. I would definitely use a tool that looks like this, but I’m not stoked about the inevitable microtransactions for new minis, tiles, and spells. I also assume it’ll be strongly locked into the core D&D ruleset, which is also a...

    D&D 5E (2014) What is TO SAVE A KINGDOM?

The original series was awesome, so this extra material is what has me the most excited!

RPG Evolution - The AI GM: Your Somewhat Unreliable Familiar

I agree with you. Alas, as people keep saying, the genie is out of the bottle—this technology is available now, and there’s enough expertise with it that it’s impossible to remove it permanently from the market. Our choices now are either prepare for this new wave and try to surf, or we wait for...

RPG Evolution - The AI GM: Your Somewhat Unreliable Familiar

The situation with AI is fundamentally different than those other technologies you mention, in large part because AI is cheaper and more immediately useful than any of those other features. Not everybody has a self-driving car nor bought any crypto, but sooo many of the kids have already tried...

RPG Evolution: The Dragons Come Home to Roost

Ah I think I understand you. It’s true that there has been a huge explosion of new players in the past few years, and they’re entering the hobby much differently than in the past. In the old days, someone usually had to teach you how to play a TTRPG or you had to slog through the books and...

D&D 5E (2024) RPG Evolution: The Brand Risks of Infinite Compatibility

Not to dispute your larger point, but part of what makes the MCU such an envious business case (and why everyone hopes to match their success) is that it built a multi billion dollar mega-franchise on the backs of C-list characters. Prior to 2008-2011, most people outside of comics fandom didn’t...

Kyle Brink (D&D Exec Producer) On OGL Controversy & One D&D (Summary)

I’m still suspicious of WotC and not super interested in their products currently, BUT I’m cautiously optimistic from Kyle Brinks’ responses. (But but I’m also not inclined to fully trust a corporate mouthpiece who lacks authority to speak for the entire company either.) Anyway, if this is...

Paizo News: Organized Play & Humble Bundle Partnership

Gonna buy this. I’ve already got physical copies of a lot of this stuff, but $33 CAD for digital copies is still a fantastic deal (so I can read adventures on my phone).
