Blog (A5E) See A Page Spread From Dungeon Delver’s Guide

I know, but if I’m gonna travel to get a book, I’d rather go the UK. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Blog (A5E) See A Page Spread From Dungeon Delver’s Guide

This, but in Canadian, knowing that shipping will probably cost as much as the book. Might be worth it to literally fly to UK to get my copy; at least I’ll get a vacation out of it.

    Marvel Shares Sabretooth's Stats

I know, I love some of them. Though I would never go so far as “most systems that’s aren’t 5E or PbtA are pretty good or exceptional”. That’s not likely to be true, and it’s super subjective. And D&D (5E currently) remains the elephant in the hobby—most players still won’t play anything else…...

    Marvel Shares Sabretooth's Stats

For what it’s worth, I’m at a point in my gaming career where “straight out of mid 80s mechanics” is a compliment. There was a lot more willingness to try new mechanics back then, compared to now when folks seem to complain if a game isn’t either 5E or PbtA.

    Marvel Shares Sabretooth's Stats

Is this sarcasm? I can’t tell.

Blog (A5E) Level Up’s Archlich: The Mouthless One

His name is Vecnot, and he’s a totally original creation. Any resemblance to trademarked characters from other properties is purely coincidence! I like his stat block a lot better than the other guy’s stats, though

    D&D 5E (2014) Here's Dragons of Stormwreck Isle's Table of Contents

FYI I don’t believe this was a real image, rather the guy on Reddit has re-assembled the ToC from what they could decipher. So (hopefully) no blanks nor text overlap in the actual print lol

    Religion in Gaming—Types of “Priest”

I think there’s a lot of room to make new religious titles in your home game, even just using common words. From Christianity, we could use the examples “Shepherd” (of the flock) or “Fisher” (as in, “fisher of men”) as titles, and the scriptural analogy would be clear to Christians—despite...

D&D Rules Expansion Set Round-Up – What the Critics Say

Wait, they sold those three books together in a slipcase? When was that?

RPG Print News – Columbia Games, Raging Swan, WizKids, and More

They look neat, but who can afford all these accessories and minis that WizKids keeps cranking out? Seems like their product line has absolutely exploded over the past few years

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Cartoon Character Miniatures Are Coming!

I’ll never believe these renderings will resemble the actual minis. Certainly not with my painting skills!

    D&D 5E (2014) Here's Our Favourite (and least favourite) D&D Monsters!

Yeah these were literally just called “Titans” in prior editions, and were clearly meant to represent ancient Greek (non-deified) “gods”.

    D&D 5E (2014) Here's Our Favourite (and least favourite) D&D Monsters!

Hey I think that was me who voted for Empyrean! I think they’re cool… but they aren’t my favourite either. It was open-ended poll, so I’m quite sure I checked like 30 or more boxes.

Spelljammer Spelljammer's Astral Dreadnought & Adult Solar Dragon

Over on Reddit (which surely skews younger and newer to the hobby than here) I keep hearing about how “expensive” D&D is as a hobby. I found that surprising considering that the conventional wisdom over here seemed to be that TTRPGs are a dirt-cheap hobby compared to most—you buy a few books and...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D and who it's aimed at

Where do you go from there? When is it time for the group to retire and start from scratch? Or do they go off into the multiverse to raid astral palaces and slay hordes of “godlins”? Not interrogating you, just always curious how high level play evolves. Should it scale up indefinitely, or...

Spelljammer Spelljammer's Astral Dreadnought & Adult Solar Dragon

Too true. Personally, I used to have tons of the old WotC D&D minis, but realized it’s never really enough—you never have exactly the right number of goblins with the right weapons, nor exactly the right dragon, unless you keep buying more… forever. Not to mention the storage space! These days...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D and who it's aimed at

Full disclosure: I love horror movies, but Hereditary scared the crap out of me like no other movie before or since. I rewatched the ending the next day to help me get closure on what I had watched. I loved that movie… but years later I still can’t watch it again. Even hearing a certain song or...

Spelljammer Spelljammer's Astral Dreadnought & Adult Solar Dragon

I agree. However, our price expectations aren’t caught up to the current reality anymore.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D and who it's aimed at

Right now, Pathfinder 2e is my favourite mashup of 3.5, 4E, and 5E. PF2 and DCC are two opposite games that both scratch my D&D itch more than 5E does. But since my main group isn’t ready to switch permanently, Level Up: A5E is the only 5E I really want to play.
