    Acrobat's Trick-Thief

There are definite limitations, as described above. Nonetheless, in or out of combat, it should be usable to scale a 40 foot cliff in a single go -- two 4-square move actions in a single round for a speed 6 PC -- without need for an Athletics check. That has its uses. But I suspect the main...

Help! I can't reach anything! (The immobilized Warpriest's lament)

As it happens, although my post is largely intended as theoretical, I'm currently building a level 13 character for a campaign, so Farslayer is a definite option and one that I will consider.

Help! I can't reach anything! (The immobilized Warpriest's lament)

I'm just going by the CB. If it is in fact legal, then I guess I should consider it.

Help! I can't reach anything! (The immobilized Warpriest's lament)

Really? Because I think nicholasgeorg completely misinterpreted the meaning of my post. I didn't say "WotC screwed up, the Warpriest sucks, I'm taking my miniatures and going home!" I asked for suggestions, and whether other classes faced the same constraints. That's absolutely true, and...

Help! I can't reach anything! (The immobilized Warpriest's lament)

Can you do that -- use a power without an actual target, just to get the Effect? There are a few other things you can do that don't involve attacking, like Aid Another to increase defenses, move to give someone cover, or bring feats into play like Shield the Fallen, etc. But immobilize would...

Help! I can't reach anything! (The immobilized Warpriest's lament)

What can a Warpriest do to get a decent ranged attack? With no ranged powers, the Warpriest can only attack at range with an RBA; but with neither Str nor Dex as a secondary ability score, the RBA will probably just miss, and won't do much damage even if it hits. This presents a problem when...

feats for a Ranger (hunter) Forgotten Kingdoms

That is incorrect. The feat Skill Power allows you to take any of the Skill Powers defined in PHB3 or other sources. These powers are not associated with any specific class, but with a skill. So Glowering Threat, for example, would not be one of the powers you could take.

feats for a Ranger (hunter) Forgotten Kingdoms

That's a hell of an Effect line.

    Adjudicating attack rolls while climbing

Yeah, that's a tough one. The dice will be down on the ground and you will be up on the wall somewhere. You might consider using a telescope or binoculars slung from your neck with a lanyard so that you can raise it to your eyes one-handed.

The Essentials Thief: Escaping from Light Blade Hell

That is not absolutely true -- your move action is consumed in the process, when it might be safer to shift or there might be a positional advantage to moving at full speed. I don't question for a moment that it's one of the two best Tricks, along with Tactical, but there will be times when you...

Death Saving Throw: Roll 20 or higher, spend surge then?

The feat Timely Revival lets you make death saves at start of turn instead of -- not in addition to -- end of turn, but it's epic tier and humans only.

    Stats Below 8

If the DM can create a skill challenge where everyone in the party can actually contribute, great. But it should be based on the party members' actual abilities, and not on some "everyone has to dance" mandate.

The Essentials Thief: Escaping from Light Blade Hell

So you want all Rogues (Thief and old style) to get a damage bonus with sneaky weapons as a class feature, and the "extra something" attached to LBE to be changed to something more flavorful?

    Runepriest Article Bumped Again!

I agree, but for a different reason: none of my DMs allow players to select Dragon material, as they consider it to be poorly playtested and prone to abuse.

What New Essentials Builds Do You Want To See?

I'd like to see a Swordmage build with stances that mimic the existing Aegises, and using Sword Burst as the primary attack. Alternatively Sword Burst as the primary attack and stances that modify it. Either one could easily become overpowered, so they would have to be careful. The main...

    The Scout and ranged attacks

You will lose a bit of damage from having to use smaller weapons, but not so much as a regular fighter would, with all of those 5[W] and higher powers.

    Runepriest Article Bumped Again!

Let's tone down the hyperbole, please -- they won't be melee-only weapons.
  19. P

    The Scout and ranged attacks

Yes, it's legal, though "doubling up" now merely means "getting double duty from" rather than mathematically doubling the bonus by getting its full value twice. As I point out above, when all you need is Dex, you have every reason to start with a pre-racial 18. Assuming a racial bump, you get...

    The Scout and ranged attacks

Zhou Yu: Those are good points, but a ranged-primary Slayer can be very good at melee too, if not quite as good as a melee-primary Slayer. First, Melee Training (Dex) and a starting Dex of 20 (assuming racial bump) leaves you with a Dex+(Dex/2) bonus of 15 at level 30, compared to a Str+Dex...
