D&D 5E (2014) 1st-10th Level: How Many Times Does A PC Mage Cast Magic Missile?

No worries. By any chance have you changed any of the spell mechanics in the D&D games you play to make evocation spells more powerful with higher level spell slots? If yes, what kind of changes did you make?

D&D 5E (2014) 1st-10th Level: How Many Times Does A PC Mage Cast Magic Missile?

Good point about wands. I had not thought to consider their use as well.

D&D 5E (2014) 1st-10th Level: How Many Times Does A PC Mage Cast Magic Missile?

I am trying to estimate how many times a PC Wizard will cast Magic Missile from levels 1 to 10. If you were to estimate a number for this task, what would it be? Thankee in advance.

D&D General Adventuring Company Names and What They Are Up To

The Company of the Angry Chamber Pot To this day, whatever power animated a communal brass chamber pot that sat at one end of a long hallway running the length of the upper floor of the Black Banner Inn—before the chamber pot went careening through the air, bashing into heads and ricocheting...

D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition and Cormyr: Flexing My Idea Muscle and Thinking Out Loud

Let's Start With A Hole In Some Dirt 1. So...something akin to a halfling's den set into a low hill, but this is more of a long oval of dirt with a hole in one side that's small enough to require a human to crawl in on hands and knees to get inside.  2. It's well within the King's Forest, off...

D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition and Cormyr: Flexing My Idea Muscle and Thinking Out Loud

Encounter Idea Inspired by the Artwork of Ryan Alexander Lee Firstly, check out this wonderful piece of art by Ryan Alexander Lee: http://ryan-alexander-lee.deviantart.com/art/Until-I-Say-350311505 Isn't it just amazing? The first thing I saw in Lee's pieces was the axe. Secondly, I saw the...

D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition and Cormyr: Flexing My Idea Muscle and Thinking Out Loud

Ideas For New Arcane and Divine Spells What follows are some ideas for arcane spells. Some of these could be divine spells as well. 1. "Spell Mime" - This spell creates an illusionary humanoid figure. That figure mimes the somatic gestures, as well as the movements required to handle material...

D&D 5E (2014) Cormyreans and Their Stories, Plus A Touch of 5E Game Mechanics

Jallask "The Old Crow" Downtlurk Jallask Downtlurk is a tall man with shoulder-length black hair that frames a craggy face in which two beady eyes keep watch over a long, downward pointed nose. D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition and Cormyr: Flexing My Idea Muscle and Thinking Out Loud

Of Kelemvor and the Raven Queen 1. By the year 1491 DR (approximately the current game year in the Forgotten Realms), one may find in certain temples of Kelemvor that the deity is being depicted not strictly as male, but also female. Such places include the Vault of Restful Dead (in Cormyr)...

What is the status of Cormyr in 5e?

As it relates to Cormyr, having a good collection of 2E and 3E books helps to run a campaign there every bit as easily for 4E as for 5E. Cormyr fared better than a lot if other places in the Realms when it comes to the Spellplague.

What is the status of Cormyr in 5e?

The free article linked to at the start of this thread (in the OP) includes a brief timeline to Cormyr over the century gap. I believe the Scribes at the Candlekeep forums have put together a timeline for the Realms over the 100 year gap.

    D&D 5E (2014) "It's OK, I've got the head"

I think I have had a player say something like that in one of my Realms campaigns, I just can't remember the circumstances. I do recall a time during the changeover from 3.0 to 3.5 when one of my players asked, "Does my character know about this errata?"

D&D General Adventuring Company Names and What They Are Up To

I just can’t let the list from the previous post stand as is. Let’s give five sentences or so of description to each of those adventuring bands. I might improve on the names too. Oh, and before I forget: Most of the places mentioned in the descriptions that follow are found in the left hand...

Critical Role Critical Role's Matt Mercer On Civility

Never seen or heard the show. Mercer's advice is useful as a polite reminder that we're all in this together, and that some modes of behavior are more useful than others.

What is the status of Cormyr in 5e?

Given the fact that Erin has searched high and low for all Realmslore relating to Comryr--including finding the tiny corner of the internet where I had been working on a detailed and updated listing of all the rooms in the Royal Palace of the Purple Dragon, Suzail, Cormyr--in order to write her...

D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition and Cormyr: Flexing My Idea Muscle and Thinking Out Loud

The Hall Of Living Statues Secrets are best kept close. The better to guard them that way. But dangerous secrets are best shared with trusted friends and allies, the better to share the danger, and the better to act swiftly and decisively when the secret threatens to burst its bonds and...

D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition and Cormyr: Flexing My Idea Muscle and Thinking Out Loud

"Dragon Dreams Of The Forest Kingdom" 1. Catchy title, don't you think? 2. There are more dragons sleeping in lairs in the Thunder Peaks and Stormhorns than you might imagine--far more. 3. If all of these dragons were to wake up and go gallivanting through Cormyr, raiding and eating and...
