    D&D 4E 4E WotC Tools dead?

This is why I chose not to renew a month ago and, instead, made "other arrangements" so that now I have all three tools sitting in my laptop and backed up here, there, and everywhere. I don't expect the tools to be here this time next year and I decided to be prepared. After all, knowing WotC's...

Living Forgotten Realms updated and adventure archive

I think the EPIC adventures, in particular, are excellent examples of high-level play in the 4E version of FR. Anyway, the whole page is an awesome resource. You can find something in almost any adventure worth stealing.

    AD&D 2E Recovering previously-bought PDFs of D&D Basic to 2E

Try Mega. They're free and the storage is massive. I also use multiple Google drive accounts so that I don't have to pay (as well as Mega and Mediafire).

D&D 5E (2014) Future format of books that mimic SCAG: Will you buy them?

WotC's policies on PDFs were never about stopping piracy: they were always about ticking that box on some corporate memo that said something like, "Have you taken appropriate anti-piracy measures as identified by outside/in-house counsel?" In other words, it wasn't about taking effective action...

Adventure Ideas You Doubt You'll Ever Be Able To Run

Midnight. I just cannot get players to bite.

D&D 5E (2014) Future format of books that mimic SCAG: Will you buy them?

No. And it's not just the format. The 5E Realms is too much Salvatore and not enough Ed. SCAG was WotC's one chance to win me over to their new vision for FR and I didn't/don't like it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Best Parts of SCAG

I quite like some of the extra detail about Elturgard. I think that's the only positive thing I got from the book.

    D&D 5E (2014) Starting the realms

Adventures I really like Raiders for Galath's Roost by (surprisingly enough) Skip Williams from one of the early 3E issues of Dungeon (84 or 97, IIRC) as an introduction to the Realms. Also, Sons of Gruumsh by Chris Perkins is an excellent Moonsea-based adventure for 3.5E is really good. They...

    The Last Witch Hunter

One of the joys of living in the Third World: 3 dollar movie tickets. And it's even better with a new cinema which, unlike the old cinema, is not infested with rats.

A Quick Look At EN World's Demographics

We're everywhere, mate. And it looks like 1% of the Australian population is on ENWorld....

Selfish playstyles and other newer issues with the game

I think the difficulty of making sense of Gygax's attempts to write coherently in the AD&D rule books is the ideal foundation on which to build a mastery of, inter alia, contract law.

Selfish playstyles and other newer issues with the game

I noticed that my DMing improved markedly once I moved into management.

D&D 5E (2014) Adventure Design: Backstory and History

For me, a Pathfinder adventure path is made up of the content needed to write three solid adventures and then another three adventures' worth of padding and XP grind. Does that sound like I am criticising them? Not at all. I steal liberally from Pathfinder AP adventures and these "long, wordy...

[Eberron] How would The Church of the Silver Flame react to an aspiring god?

The Silver Flame is not a deity, per se, and its concern is keeping the BBEGs bound. That translates into the doctrine that the purpose of the followers of the Silver Flame is to fight supernatural evil. If "Frosty" is perceived to be supernatural evil then the church of the Silver Flame will...

Dave Who? Arneson Gameday Celebrates Other D&D Creator

There's an interesting snippet from Frank Mentzer online (Dragonsfoot?) where he discusses the (execrable, incomplete) Temple of Elemental Evil and how the other TSR staffers were really pleased when he was given the job of turning Gary's chaos into an adventure as apparently Gary didn't like to...

D&D 5E (2014) The Official Poll! What THREE things do you like most about D&D 5th Edition?

Including background information - traits, bonds etc... - in the PHB is my favourite part and something I have stolen for my 4E games. Felshing out the PCs from the very beginning just makes so much sense.

D&D 5E (2014) Just read Vengeance of the Iron Dwarf...

Yes, most RAS-created names are worse than Cattie-Brie. Try the Bonaduces: yes, named after the Partridge Family actor. Try Pikel the green-haired dwarf, so named because RAS wanted to see if he could sneak "Pickle" past his editor and have it be the name of a dwarf with green hair. Try all the...
