    Thoughts on Nikita & Terriers

Not just that, but they have a way of telling stories that could really easily be cliche, but come across as very real and organic. Case in point (spoiler for recent eps), . That's something that easily crosses over into overused trope territory, but when it happened I got why. As an aside...

Pulling up a rope... with a PC attached

It depends on the situation. Out of battle, I'd make it a Strength check, maybe Athletics if someone was trained in the skill to represent weightlifting or tug-of-war or the like. The DC would depend on the conditions, but probably Moderate for a Medium creature and Easy for a Small one. In...

    Beastmaster Rangers (with direct link)

So the webpage appears to be broken, but if you're logged in to DDI, you can access the article directly here. Two new companions - simian and horse. Amusingly, e Horse Ranger makes a fairly decent cavalry unit. Also a bunch of level two utilities specific to each animal companion.

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

Sounds like my player last night. Big demon, almost 100HP... Avenger crits with his Rending Axe, crits with his followup basic attack, hits with the second followup basic attack, action point and rolls almost max damage on Sequestering Strike. Kills it. It was incredibly awesome.

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

That is amazing, and I'm totally yoinking it too. I can't give you XP, so I'm calling it out instead! I on the other hand have had to do it because my three player group doesn't have a Defender. Like Truename, my players run the characters, so it's important not to make them too complicated...

    STARGATE UNIVERSE #4:Pathogen/Season 2/2010

The episode was pretty good - I liked the Wray and Eli stories a lot in the episode. I thought Rush's "Hallways of Equations" was pretty neat, and making Chloe relevant is nice. No miraculous return of the Seeder people? While I don't buy for a second that Telford won't return, I'm impressed...

D&D 4E The EN World "Build A Ridiculously Complicated Character for D&D 4e" thread.

Ugh, I had a longer post, but it got eaten. Shaman actually works nicely with Beast Ranger, since most Beast powers use Wisdom as a rider. I'm waffling on Artificer, but for summon you really only have Artificer, Wizard, Druid, and Psion. Artificer gets you two critters (familiar/summon), so...

D&D 4E The EN World "Build A Ridiculously Complicated Character for D&D 4e" thread.

Zarminder, Master of Nature The concept behind Zarminder is to use the Shaman's Spirit Companion and Ranger's Beast Companion to keep enemies off of you while you aid your allies. Student of Artifice gives you a little extra healing power and allows access to a Familiar; the Serpent aids with...

Civ 5, just one more turn...

There are quite a few techs that you don't need to research if you're going for science. I do have a confession though - I've only ever done Scientific Victory once. Personally, I feel that combat is the main thrust of the game. Even if you're not out to conquer everyone, you still need to...

Rare Magical Item Preview - Holy Avenger

I agree. However, when I do this, I also try not to be a jerk. I'd give the PCs ample opportunity to "convert" items or craft their own. For example, a player of mine wanted a Heroic-tier Healer's Sash, so I made one up. However, it didn't make sense for evil people to use it, so I made it...

    Compendium New Look

I don't think feats are losing their tier requirements retroactively. Rather, starting with Essentials new feats are not going to have tier requirements.

    Out-of-encounter abilities for every class

You may also want to sift through the Martial Practices for ideas. I've thought about doing something similar with Rituals/Practices - making them basically extended duration non-combat powers.

    DDI September/October Update info

I like the updates to the Compendium for the most part; specifically it seems to run a little more smoothly when it returns large numbers of results. There are a few minor things I'm not fond of. The big one is how it always switches to the category with the most results, even when I've...

    Wizard build for small group

While Wizards are no longer glass cannons, you really don't want to be on the front lines even with a more defensive build (Staff/Leather/Thunderwave). The big feat that you want to take as a Wizard is Improved Initiative. You really want to be going early in the first round so you can use...

    FRINGE #3:The Plateau/Season III/2010

Ahh, I must have missed that they were using Bell's machine to actually travel. I thought Bell's machine was working in concert with Olivia. That makes more sense.

    Wizard build for small group

I'd go the opposite route - focus on control and damage exclusively. Watering down what the Wizard is good at isn't going to help the party (even if the Wizard makes a decent Hybrid). If you really want extra healing, take one of the multi-class feat. Also, what sources are you allowed to...

Magic Item Daily Power rule change and Elixir

The big problem I have with the current system isn't actually the Daily use, it's the X per Milestone use. Why shouldn't a player be allowed to use all his items in one fateful blow? Or for that matter, four different items on four different turns? If "Bag of Items" got out of hand, I would...

    FIFTY remakes? Seriously?

Or for that matter, how many non-remakes fall under the same category. It's one thing if it's 50 remakes out of 100 films, another if it's 50 out of 500.
