Can sustained conjurations and zones fly?

Pretty sure there are no rules for this, and your DM's ruling seems about right. Now for fun/coolness I would totally allow it based on each spell. Stinking cloud? sure it can fly. Bigby's Icy Grasp? Sure it's a floating hand. Flaming Sphere... no way, it normally gets about by rolling. It's...

    The Interests

I am a musician and I am active in the local music community. I write and record songs here in my own apartment, play guitar, bass, keyboards and whatever else I can get my hands on. I haven't really taken the time to put together a band yet though, I would really like to get on that soon...

wizard of the spiraling out of control

In my game a player would get either sword + staff + shield abilities. or Orb + shield abilities. If they try to use staff + orb abilities at the same time neither work, and an orb can't be held in the same hand as a shield to be 'wielded' properly. The sword or orb would have to be stowed for...

How's the barbarian beta working out?

It's basically pretty balanced, a dwarf barbarian will play really well I think. It also can be a very simple class to play. I had a brand-new to D&D player come into my last game who said she just wanted to hit things, so I made up a Barbarian for her, it went fairly well and she was able to...

    layoffs?

Unfortunately only a small percentage of any consumer looks at the people behind the scenes for making <product> At a certain point people begin not so much looking at the stars in a movie and look at directors and writers. People stop looking at the president as the face of a faceless...

    Let's read the entire run

hmm Those three were recently (relatively) used by Paizo in the 2nd Dungeon Adventure Path, I didn't know they went back that far.

    Weakness by Edition

I've only played 3/3.5 and 4th and here are my observations: 3.X - generating high level characters/monsters takes a lot of time. battles more often than not are won before the battle begins, so strategy and not tactics are important. relitively small 'sweet spot' of levels of play. (for some...

    Higher Level Minion Additions

That ability I love for some minions. I will definitely have to use something like that in the future. I can totally see something like this in MM2 eventually

Treasure: Thoughts on the Parcel System

The extra money seems completely reasonable. I'm of the mind if you want to include "hidden" "skipable" treasures then you might be able to pencil in a equivalent parcel (maybe one that isn't as cool... say a +X Weapon instead of some cool Wonderous item) Or maybe make the parcel a level lower...

The best D&D books (Regardless of Edition)

Books that will likely stay very useful as I continue playing 4th edition and further: Eberron Campaign Setting - A Rich world, lots of details that will certainly be lost durring edition updates. The parts without rules are great reads. Sharn City of Towers - The quintesential city book, any...

4th edition elven and dwarven fonts?

People have made fonts, they're out there, I've seen them. Either from scans of the pages in the PHB or from Fonts extracted from the offfical PDF version. Where they are available from I'm unsure. If you have a scanner you could do it yourself too.

Possibly dumb poll: Playing vs. Running D&D Editions

I'd play pretty much anything but the AD&Ds, though the OD&D/BD&Ds would probably only last a few sessions before I would want out. I appreciate nostalgia, but it doesn't appeal to my design instincts (which is why the advanced games are out, they are inelegant and harder to learn rather than...

4e Dragon - What Have You Used?

I happened to have a printout of a couple of the wizard illusion spells with me when a player was making his new wizard, so he took two of them. That's all that's been used so far, but I've only played one 4th ed game so far, so I guess I'm 1/1

WotC Settings schedule - an alternate idea

of old settings the only one I really expect as a a full rework of the exisiting mythos is Dragonlance. As 4th or 5th setting out. The only other 'classic' setting I really expect is Dark Sun, (out 3rd likely) but would be a reboot. (Like Ultimate Spider-man kinda) Boiling DS down to essential...

    GSL and SRD questions

First note: the GSL is in the process of being revised, hopefully these questions will become more clear when it has been. 2nd note: This is just what I have come to understand the GSL to mean based on what I've read here and interpreting the GSL. for better answers ASK A LAWYER. I think you...

My BECM D&D Style Character Sheet

It's kinda good. no showing your work though (which can end up being confusing) I would recommend probably having like... checkboxes or something which skills are trained. Oh and maybe lines in the wealth area for risiduum (or however you spell it) And a little box for a bloodied value would be...

    Arcane Surge - Racial power

Obviously taint is a new mechanic for you CS that's cool. It looks fine if underpowered. Full Int mod will work fine and not break anything. +5 at early levels, to like +10 total at 30 is really quite fair for using up a less renewable resource.

D&D 4E Which 4e races do you like mechanically

I like a bunch of the races in the MM mechanically the best. But I can see myself playing just about any of the other races quite easily. One of my main problems is not with the races per-se, but with the rules for small size. Why exactly can't there be small size scaled two-handed weapons...
