    Pimp your setting

My setting is the best because of how awesome it is. My D&D campaign takes place on a plane that's a retirement home for all adventures. Basically, whenever an archmage or seasoned fighter gets sick of actually doing things, they become eligible to enter the Plane of Riverdale, a living...

Every time I see IMO or IMHO, I will drown one of these kittens

Awww! I just found a newly birthed litter of fluffy cat-babies behind my shed. I have taken them indoors, and spent the day observing their adolescent behavior- the adorable mews, the toppling-over kitten gymnastics, their playful wrestling... Yet, my resolve is firm for administering arbitrary...

    Running Undermountain

I saw this back in the day and forgot about it! Wow, this does a lot of help. How many levels does undermountain have, I wonder?

    Running Undermountain

Thanks for the links and ideas on Dungeon adventures! Tremendous help! 4.00 for a pdf beats 30 over ebay for the boxed sets :) Well, for my purposes, at least

    Solving the Called Shot Problem

That's interesting, Doggone. I like the idea of having areas without DR, and somehow making this area researchable or otherwise discoverable by the PCs.

    [D&D history/development] I wonder why...

Well said. My campaign has rare and limited firearms for exactly that reason Only if you DM it that way. What do you define as the status quo? How much does the average commoner make? DO your LG cities power up swords instead of feeding people when there is literal starvation? They're all your...

    Running Undermountain

Whoa, actually, upon googling, I ran across mention of someone who did something similiar. Gaiden's Undermountain story hour. Does anyone have the link to that?

    Running Undermountain

I'm starting a campaign in Waterdeep soon, and I want to make Undermountain available for adventuring. I've heard a lot of criticism aimed at the 3.5 edition, and was wondering if it was better to just buy the boxed sets off of ebay or something and convert those? I'm not sure about the idea of...

    D&D 4E In terms of theme, tone, and spirit, I hope 4e . . .

Why all the buckly hatred? It's so hip. So edgy. By the way, let's have both! Like we currently do! Never look back, just hold hands with buckled-up Hennet down the stairs to the magic mouth. Okay, that sounded questionable.

    Solving the Called Shot Problem

And on top of that, what D&D player DOESN'T love overkill? :D "Hey, let me disarm him!" "No." "Well, I should shoot the artifact out of his hand." "No." "Well, what then?" "I'm going to try to cut his arm off." "Ummm... fair enough."

    Solving the Called Shot Problem

I didn't say anything about insta-kills, although I'm for those too! Can I remind you that vorpal weapons kill by chopping heads off, and the vorpal quality is in a core book? To defend the upcoming "yeah, but vorpal weapons are EXPENSIVE! Giving the possibility of maiming a foe to anyone...

    Solving the Called Shot Problem

Yikes! That would never fly in my game. See, we're looking for "hey, he's holding a powerful artifact! We should be able to take his arm off!" kinda thing.

    Solving the Called Shot Problem

That "aim" mechanic is cool, but to answer Kid Charlemagne's question, I'm bucking for a eye-blinding, finger-amputating, decapitation system, specifically the one in Torn Asunder. The question is not what effects I want- but rather, how can I make a better balanced way to achieve those effects?

    Solving the Called Shot Problem

Wow, thanks guys. Lots of creative thought. Here's my idea, which I hope sounds like good design philosophy. In my upcoming game, I will reward a little AP per level on top of offering my players the chance to earn more by performing post-game activities. I like the idea of major NPCs having an...

    Solving the Called Shot Problem

I thought of that today! One AP = One Called Shot attempt. The problem is that the mechanic would be unavailable to NPCs

    Solving the Called Shot Problem

Wow, very informative. A Torn Asunder insider! Love that book. But yes, I actually was trying to find a way to incorporate body part based effects that correspond to the part hit. I enjoy the injuries presented in TA, I guess I am just trying to find out how to make it all mesh. Sean K. Reynolds...
