Frasier gets a lot of rewatching. King of the Hill. The one I thought was criminally underrated was NewsRadio.

I think the issue isn’t range, it’s that he’s “phoning it in.” It’s doing the barest minimum possible.

How Much Do You Care About Novelty?

I want the tropes. It helps me create characters that work within the fiction. There are enough tropes out there that I don’t feel like I need something truly innovative because sometimes what sets out to be innovative falls completely flat at the table. I’m not looking for a reinvention of the...

Understood and understood that it could be improved upon.

You suppose correctly. It’s why they did away with it in favor of something clearer.

It could be a little of column A and a little of column B too.

It's also a weird thing - at some level, fans don't want actors like Johnson or Schwarzenegger to be "chameleons." They want that predictability, but they also like it when they sometimes break out of the box or do something different. It's a fine balancing act. Honestly, I think the only actor...

But the result with the math is a subtraction. 5 vs. 3. Also, and not that it really matters, AD&D did not phrase AC as "5th Class" or "3rd Class" and if you think it was otherwise, I'll be happy for the page number of whichever book.

I think there was enough stuff early on for Johnson that showed the hint that had he made the choice to take on some more challenging material, he could've grown as an actor, no different than Schwarzenegger did. But yeah, at this point, he's long since given up on that.

Yeah, but I think in fairness, the same accusation can be leveled at a lot of actors, including Schwarzenegger or Stallone, but even award winning actors like Jack Nicholson, for instance. At a certain point, I think a lot, maybe even most actors, settle into a comfort zone and don't move...

A +2 AC Bonus meant you subtracted two from the armor class, so a Chainmail (normally AC 5) with a +2 bonus (how it was written in stat blocks) would have AC 3.

To boil it down simplistically, I think Schwarzenegger was concerned with making good movies that fit building his personal brand. Johnson’s brand is selling himself (and his side gigs) first, and making good movies is wholly secondary. And to be fair, I think Hollywood in general is less...

I agree, they are two separate games with two different modes of play. There are similarities but the game balance and the motivations for players are different. It’s why I don’t try to force 5e into a 1e paradigm or vice versa. It allows me to enjoy each game for what it is.

We always dealt with that by whether something was "treasure" or not, which is something that modern OSR games like Shadowdark do well. Rather than selling off junk for GP to convert into XP, the items need to be legit treasure found, no different than you don't get XP for endlessly killing rats...

Yeah, our group was still together when we made the switch from 2e to 3e and we definitely felt that moving from THAC0 to ascending AC was a positive change. Just because you become accustomed to a way of doing things doesn’t mean it couldn’t be improved upon.

    Spoilers The Pitt on Max

My only gripe with that is the outcome of that situation wasn’t that Robby was right, nor was McKay wrong. Just because the kid wasn’t the shooter at the festival doesn’t erase the fact that he did create a list of girls he either wanted to target or felt hurt him, he was acting strangely, he...
