Inspire Greatness -- Bonus Hit Dice?

The table is irrelevant. It summarises what is gained, but you might look up rules text in the creature type section instead, which would give the same numbers only without the loaded (to you, at least) word "advancement" next to it. All rules are PC applicable. I can not understand your...

    Question/Theory about standard-points-buy

As an extra bonus, this would lead to the exact same result as the system proposed by the OP's friend. Start with STR 10? You have to pay 2 points less for increasing STR to any number, because the 2 first points are already "paid for" by the racial bonus. Start with INT 6? You have to pay 2...

    Cloak of Mage Armor

I don't buy the "bracers of armor are too expensive" argument. They allow unarmored characters to have an armor bonus. That is pretty huge right there. And unlike actual armor, it doesn't have a max dex modifier. I love dextrous characters, and I have made a few that are better off with bracers...

Reach with strongarm bracers & large longspear?

Actually, technically you only gain reach when you're wielding "a reach weapon sized for you", which a large longspear isn't for a medium creature, no matter your feats, racial abilities, or items.

    Spells ruling: Shatter

I disagree. AMF suppresses magic, it does not remove it. If we were to judge spell effects by spell names we would have much bigger problems.

    The Throne Room

Most of these assume that the guards are loyal. How do you protect from disloyal guards (not magically compelled, just bribed, blackmailed, or otherwise convinced getting rid of the King is a good idea)?

    D&D 3.x Spacing and creatures in D&D 3.5

No. No, it's not. It's 8 to 12 feet long, nothing is said about its width.

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

I still disagree. Look at your analysis again when you throw Enlarge Person into the picture. An Enlarged person does not have the easy "just a 5-foot step and the enemy will be in reach" solution that you posit as generally applicable above. Also, for others: Lockdown builds without the...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Of course. .85 LA was an example figure. Stop the psychoanalysis already. No. I would not consider switching the feat an intelligent creature gets for its racial HD to have an impact on its CR. I did not make this build to prove that the spiked chain was broken. I wanted to provide the OP...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

They have SR, they do not have DR, they have standard construct immunities. Because each feature need not be charged an integer LA cost. You can charge it .85 LA and then round up once all your LA adjustments are added together. This is more reasonable than considering each feature either 0, 1...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Then there's no possibility of raising HP based on CON, as he doesn't have one, and you're not counting those two HD of "construct" in there which contribute 0 to any save. Large is not only positive. I don't see Large as being +1 LA by itself. Anyway, I don't have a problem with the Maug by...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

2 racial HD, +3 LA You can find the full stats in the Fiend Folio. Your comments on ECL vs "real power" earlier I took to be rhetorical. I could just as easily have tripped all those different kinds of monsters with a minotaur, ogre, half-giant or other Large race with a high Strength bonus.

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Wrong again. I played a PC tripper Maug (though not nearly as monstrous as one with a level in Warmind and using a Spiked Chain to get the disarm cheese on top of it) and have successfully tripped, of the above: Wargs, Monstrous spiders, giants (including Huge ones), centaurs, dragons (including...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

I get what you're saying, I really do. But your last statement just wrong - the difference between the tripping Maug and the greatsword Maug is more than tedium. You can get to the greatsword Maug and damage it in melee - and HP are constructs' weakness, because they do not have a CON score. You...

    Travel Domain: Freedom of Movement

That's why I used "suspect". There might not be a trap there at all! Now you can turn jumping into free trap detection; "If we can jump this section of floor, there's a trap there!". I wanted a motivation to jump the otherwise completly normal and uniform floor. Let's dispense with motivation...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Sorry, Maugs are constructs and hence immune to mind affecting spells.

    Travel Domain: Freedom of Movement

OK, let's elide the "like" phrase: ""A long jump is a horizontal jump, made across a gap(...)." So if someone wants to long-jump over a section of floor they suspect contains the trigger device for a falling-stone-block trap, for instance, they would not be allowed to?

Was "Bad GM Rulings?", Now Silence spell

My post was not in response to yours. Next time I will make sure to quote the correct post(s) so that this misunderstanding doesn't happen either. [EDIT: Well, my *fist* post here was in response to yours, yes. Well, in that case: Rules or changes to rules do not have to be the same across a...

Was "Bad GM Rulings?", Now Silence spell

People! If you read the thread this branced off of you will see that the discussion that sparked this thread was about a *House Rule* that the OP had in effect in his campaign. Thus my post about how house rules influence this. It was NOT meant as innuendo to go post in the House Rules forum...
