D&D 5E (2024) Hypothesis: Playtest 7 delayed to add elements inspired by BG3

Well, I can safely say that the new Jump spell is actually useful now. As for the rest of the core jumping mechanic, I hope it gets it's own overhaul soon.

    D&D 5E (2024) Barbarian (Playtest 7)

Barbarian damage resistance potential is in the gutter now. All the higher level enemies are tossing around elemental damage and even bear Barbarians can't resist most of it anymore.

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Shares Free 'Phandalin Post' Player Handout

Using Mold Earth you could instantly set up a master copy stone without having to set up the type or cutouts. And it's only a cantrip.

D&D 5E (2014) Tedium for balance. Should we balance powerful effects with bookkeeping?

All balance requires bookkeeping. The only question is whom is keeping the books.

    The Mourning After (Horror) (IC)

"Learn something new every day here I tell you!" The barkeep chuckles a bit and nods to the half-orc guarding way upstairs. "After this, would you and your friends care for the regular up in room 203?"

    The Mourning After (Horror) (IC)

"Hah, had that Ragout for too long have you?" The bartender picks up a spice shaker and puts it on the bar. "Try it with some of this, it will knock your socks off!" Insight DC 10: Perception DC 5: Nature DC 15: Lazharis:

D&D 5E (2024) Hypothesis: Playtest 7 delayed to add elements inspired by BG3

You have to remember, even if there are more people playing tabletop, most of the time they do so on the DM's dime, with 5+ people sharing the same set of books/subscription. BG3 has grossed over 200 million on steam alone, and that's not counting the console release, which is tomorrow. It's...

[5e] Dread Metrol, The Mourning After. (Horror) (OOC)

Do we need more direction perhaps?

D&D 5E (2024) Hypothesis: Playtest 7 delayed to add elements inspired by BG3

They already tried to slip some BG3 rules into the playtest, like Bardic Inspiration being a reaction, but it didn't take despite how good of an idea it was mechanically. Personally, I am hoping the Jumping rules make it in.

D&D 5E (2024) Baldur's Gate 3: List of Mechanical Differences from 5e (need assistance to fill the list)

Using meters instead of feet is one convention chat popped out to me, but that is just a setting that can be toggled. Jumping is totally overhauled: There is no such thing as a running jump or a standing jump, just a singular jump. There is no upper limit to jumping distance (making the Jump...

    Spelljammin' (5e PBP OOC) (Full)

I blame myself for going below decks in the middle of combat, which kind of stalled everyone.

D&D 5E (2014) What are THE wizard spells?

I'm gonna peeve a lot of people with this I know, but not only do I not think of Fireball as a particularly "wizardly" spell, I don't think it's a particularly "magical" spell to boot. It's just a firebomb. Same with the modern Lighting Bolt (though back in 2e, Lighting Bolt qualified as both...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wizards Do Suck;)

Wizards suck because they aren't allowed to have real class features, and more often than not their subclass features are just kind of milquetoast. It's more or less the same problem the Fighter had for the longest time: Most of the cool stuff was cut away to give to other classes. Mind you...

Oops, I forgot to port that over to the post! Dr Dreamlilly should be at the Arena, if you all feel like taking a trip over later.

D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 will now be releasing August 3rd on PC and September 6th on PS5, increased level cap, race & class details and more

You are probably aiming at their circles and not at their feet. They have to actually stand in the potion to be healed. Remember this game isn't using a grid. You can even hit two people with the same potion if you aim it right.

    The Mourning After (Horror) (IC)

The bartender slops bowls and mugs onto the bar. With the unsavory memory of ragout on your tongue, the umami of a real stew warms your innards with an actual, if simple, meal. Having something solid for flavor to cling onto does wonders for the digestion. The beer is a bit watery, as expected...

D&D 5E (2024) Half Race Appreciation Society: Half Elf most popular race choice in BG3
