Final Fantasy XII sucks. Period. Fact.

I, too, really enjoyed FF 12. Probably my favorite since 6 (3 US). I could have used some more variety in the combat (offensive spells were almost never worth the trouble to use, in my opinion, except for on a couple of bosses), but overall it was a highly enjoyable game. I loved the huge number...

Dr. Who Season 4 Episode 10: "Midnight" SPOILERS

This episode wouldn't have worked if Donna had been there. With another voice speaking up in support of the Doctor, things wouldn't have unfolded the way they did. And at the end, when the passengers were trying to drag the Doctor to the door, she would have been fighting them off, hitting them...

Dr. Who Season 4 Episode 10: "Midnight" SPOILERS

That was, without a doubt, the best DW script Davies has written. And the tight, tense atmosphere really came across well, so credit to the director, too. I loved this episode. There's an unknown, mysterious, scary alien presence - and it turns out that the scary alien presence is not the...

Slightly over halfway through Savage Tide (some spoilers)

Honestly, I was disappointed that they didn't do more with the Isle of Dread. It's an iconic D&D location, but only two adventures really focused on it, and one of those was on just a small part of it. The final two Isle of Dread adventures are basically just dungeon crawls (there's a bit more...

Why is Polar Ray an 8th level spell?

Say you have a 15th level Wizard. For a 4th level slot, he can Empower a Scorching Ray and do 18d6 damage. Or, he can cast Polar Ray for an 8th level slot and do 15d6 damage. Even at 18th level, Polar Ray only gives him the same amount of damage for an 8th level slot that Empowered Scorching...

    Recommend a solo adventure game

Portal is awesome. Ordinarily I wouldn't say a 3-4 hour game is worth $19.99 (though it may be cheaper now - I'm not sure), but for this game, I'll definitely make an exception.

    Recommend a solo adventure game

I know you got your game already (and NWN2 is a fine choice), but after your wife finishes it, if she's looking for something else to play, I'd suggest Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It meets all your criteria (you can choose to play light side or dark side, so while you can have a...

Sci-Fi Shows Set to Dominate Fox's Fall Lineup

I used to think so. But then I saw the stuff he's done since. And then I realized that the timing of when Buffy and Angel each turned to crap was pretty much right after David Greenwalt left both shows. And then I started to wonder.

Sci-Fi Shows Set to Dominate Fox's Fall Lineup

Meh. I'm so over Whedon. More and more I'm convinced that Greenwalt was the true talent behind Buffy and Angel. I might give Fringe a try, though I suspect its schtick will get old fairly quickly.

News about "Wizard´s First Rule" by Sam Rami

I'm sorry, but the idea of someone in a medieval setting outlawing the use of fire is one of the stupidest plot points I've ever seen in a work of fiction. That was what made me decide not to waste any more of my time with the book, or the series. Just my opinion.

News about "Wizard´s First Rule" by Sam Rami

They're making movies out of that godawful series?? I now officially hate Hollywood.

    Shifty v/ CC: Who Wins?

But this still doesn't get around the fact that each warlord (except #1) has used their immediate action on the first pass, and thus can't use another one until next round.

    Shifty v/ CC: Who Wins?

No errata needed, since that ability doesn't work the way you seem to think it does: Emphasis mine. "An ally of your choice." Not "All your allies."

    D&D 4E 4e Monster List - Dwarven Nosepicker & Elven Butt Scratcher

Or, alternatively, you do have Howdrowf get tougher. This is perfectly explainable in-game; just give him a short speech before he attacks the PCs like: "You beat Howdrowf last time. But after, Howdrowf train. Howdrowf get stronger. Howdrowf win fight this time!" No problems with verisimilitude...

    D&D 4E 4e Healing - Is This Right?

Except they don't have any problem at all performing the strenuous activity in the first place, therefore they aren't seriously injured. Go to a hospital and ask an ER doctor how many victims of serious stab wounds are out running for miles and stacking concrete blocks the next day. The answer...

Is the 15 minute adventuring day now the 90 minute adventuring day?

The 15 minute adventuring day doesn't happen because of bad players, or bad DMs, or bad adventure design. The 15 minute adventuring day happens because the 3.X rules are designed so that the party will have to rest after every four encounters. A great deal of the time, it simply doesn't take...

    D&D 4E 4e Healing - Is This Right?

That's not impairment. Sure, you don't get any better if you do so, but you can still preform strenuous activity at 100% of your usual effectiveness. If someone can push boulders uphill all day, every day for a week or a month or whatever, he's not seriously injured. That's a simple fact.

    D&D 4E 4e Healing - Is This Right?

That's ridiculous. Regardless of whether or not someone lets on that he's hurt, the fact is that serious injuries impair the human body's ability to function effectively. Since there's no impairment in any previous edition of D&D, it follows that there is no serious injury.
