CON no longer useful for boosting HP

Yep. It dont contribute much. Mind you, if does contribute to your hit dice rolls (i.e. you capacity for self healing) So whilst it isnt contributing to Maximum as much as it used to, it is contributing to you max HP per day.

Why Do Clerics Get to Spontaneously Cast Their Prepared Spells, But Not Wizards?

The cleric really get a leg up with this. The only thing that would put the mage above him now is the nature of mage spells vs clerical. I really hope that pound for pound mage spells are simply noticably better

Why I Think Rolling For Hit Points is a Bad Thing

I spend alot of time disagreeing with Shidaku...but this time I will totally agree!!!! (and would have xp'd if it was switched on) If people think that random HP is required to create differentiation in characters, I wonder if they are looking hard enough. My group have been using set HP since...

    Wisdom too powerful?

My take is that we need to consider what is best for the game, not which "simulates the real world". I would actually agree with the arguments that in real world interpretation, wisdom is probably the better stat for the job (if I had to pick ONE stat that is). But in terms of what is best...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e digital offerings?

Dont get me wrong, I still like having paper books, though since getting the ipad, its not books I read when I go to bed anymore, its digitals on the pad. I think its just a reality of our age that printed material is more and more becoming a novelty. The entire idea of "selling print" is...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e digital offerings?

Ditto Janaxstrus. I am hooked on having my digital property out there on the cloud. I want PDF's. Lets hope they can do a better job managing DRM this time around.

LONG REST: let's add some realism.

This has to become our position. Im finding alot of these posts becoming quite snarky on a number of points. We need to collectively pull our heads in, act in a civil nature and understand that if... a) There is a divide b) The rule CAN be modularised ...then variants to satisfy both side of...

    More concerns over hit points

That's funny. I like to reward good play. But if you think luck is to "be rewarded" ok then. Yea, cause I want a game with 10,000 HP. Great comment, just awesome. HP is your means of preventing homoginization? Seriously. Mine is well defined classes and backgrounds, with excellent thought our...

Review of Diablo 3 by Blizzard Entertainment

Are you saying Blizzard had a story you liked? Ok, umm, yea. I just dont have a response to that.

LONG REST: let's add some realism.

Or maybe we can have rules where we lop off limbs to stop infection spreading from that scratch. That was a valid medieval medical practice. No character would reach level 2 with a limb intact, but hey, we would be "realistic". Yes, lets do "realism" in a fantasy tabletop game and write off...

    More concerns over hit points

How? I have seen players rage quit in frustration. No slant on their personalities, they just invested their heart and soul into their character, only to see it crapped on a couple of months into play. The point of the game is to have fun. Its NOT fun when one stupid dice roll sours the entire...

Healing Fully With Rest - Is It Really That Big of a Deal?

I kinda like the idea of what has been put forward as what it is. I dont like when everything "stalls" because players cant get enough healing, or even worse when the cleric is made to give up all coolness to compensate for the loss. What they have put forward gets around these hurdles...

Why I Think Rolling For Hit Points is a Bad Thing

I could not XP you Herremann, but I totally agree. The trick here is to create variability. It is important to have variability as this is what helps define uniqueness of characters. Random rolls is just one potential way that can be achieved. That said... Hate hate hate hate random rolls for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Armor in D&DNext

This is exactly my experience as well. Money is a terrible balancing mechanic. Its not that hard to get the funds together, and once you do...boom, forevermore you have a higher AC (and the party member who takes it off your corpse afterwards should it prove the armor wasnt enough) To me, armor...

    Saving throws improve?

Acknowledged. It works, but my desired effect is the old 2e "You save more often, but you damn well better, cause the spells are getting worse!" and this stat against stat with growth in saves from stat growth only goes in the wrong direction for me. Hmmm, a bit to think about.

At Will abilities - no healing among the list, should there be?

Thats funny. MMO's had the exact opposite effect on me. They forever convinced me that healers SHOULDNT have that much ooomph and that healing should be a secondary role. Not going to get into an argument about it. If you want to know my motivations, go to the GuildWars2 website and see their...

    More concerns over hit points

I for one would houserule it in if the rule did not exist. I know Im not alone in disliking rolled HP at level up and I have faith the WOTC will recognize that we are out there and will provide optional rules for people who just prefer it that way.

My idea on replacing the HD healing mechanic.

To be honest I liked what they proposed. It allowed short rests to keep the game rolling forward. It took the weight off the cleric for out of combat healing. It rewarded level as contributing to amount you could heal (i.e. number of dice) It rewarded class as the type of dice (i.e. the fighter...

    Saving throws improve?

On another note. From what I have read so far in this area Im pretty happy. Two thumbs up for restricting scaling against probability mathematics in general. Now, if I had something which "improved" a saving throw outside of stat growth, I would FAR prefer to see that handballed into the...

    Saving throws improve?

But by that logic, arent saves also increasing, since save are based on stats?
