I have to second this remark. The designers should make the core rules the best they can be and not worry about the mutations that are inevitable. And they DEFINITELY should be slapped around repeatedly.

Wait a minute - doesn't this guy have a chance to reroll his stats? After doing some quick math his overall bonus modifiers only yield a +1 - which I believe the PHB says you can reroll if your mods don't net you MORE than a +1. Just have him reroll - problem solved.
