    [d20 Future/Star Wars] Starships?

Regarding slow ship combat, why not just drop the hardness values on some of the ships, say from 40 to 25? That should speed up combat a bit. If you really want a rules system that offers more detail yet allows for fast fleet combat you might consider Lightning Strike from Dream Pod 9. It's...

An Open Letter to Dragon and Dungeon Readers

I'm happy to say that I just resubscribed to both magazines for another year. I really don't understand some of the bellyaching on this thread. Does anyone really expect to find every single article in either magazine useful all of the time? That's unrealistic and simpleminded. I see Dragon...

What are you going to do with d20 Future?

I've been waiting for this book with bated breath. There is no shortage of ideas going through my mind. My only problem at this point is to not get carried away. It easy to incorporate too much in what ever campaign I create and have it lose any sort of identity. That said I'm looking forward...

    Need San Francisco gaming info

SF might not be paradise but it's far from the :):):):)-hole some people here are making it out to be. Urinating and defecating? Give me a break. With out a doubt some of the restaurants are a bit overpriced but in all honesty I avoid those completely. It can be difficult for tourist to...

    Need San Francisco gaming info

Actually it depends on what bus you take. Sure you can do the 2 bus route if you like but If I were you I'd walk to Market street (a couple of blocks from your hotel) and hop on the 7,71 or 71L. I think the 6 or 66 will also work but you might want to ask the driver if the bus crosses Divisadero...

    Need San Francisco gaming info

Many people come to SF to see the sites (Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, etc.). I think that is a waste of time. They're just tourist traps. You will find exactly 0 locals at FW (maybe the bridge and tunel crowd but that's it) and the only locals going to the GGB are using it to get to...

    Aberrant D20

The original Aberrant allows for a wide range of power levels. I think your perceptions might have been a bit off to think that most supers in the game would be higher than PL 20 if converted to M&M. That said there were a handful of NPC's (Cestus Pax and Divis Mal come to mind) that were...

Starship Combat - best rules you have seen

I suggest you take a look at Lightning Strike from Dream Pod 9 (http://www.dp9.com/Products/DP9-322.htm). It allows for tactical fleet combat with capital ships and fighters. Complex enough to allow for everything you are looking for but fast enough to allow 20 units to a side without slowing...

    Dark Inherentance goes Spycraft

Interesting. I held off buying Dark Inheritance only because I never got around to it. It's been on my buy list for a while. Now it's switching from D20 Modern to Spycraft? I'm surprised. I suppose they didn't sell very well under the D20 Modern rule set so they must see it as easier to convert...

    D20 SF campaign

Fading Suns is a great setting. I haven't had the chance to play it using D20 rules so I can't comment on their conversion. The setting is good enough to make it a worthwhile purchase however. Other settings you might consider are Heavy Gear and Jovian Chronicles. The latest edition for both...

CORE / Heavy Gear lines from DP9

The best way to learn about DP9 products is to visit the website www.dp9.com Other than that I can say that they have several sttings for use with their Silhouette rule system including Heavy Gear, Jovian Chronicles, Tribe 8, Gear Krieg and Core Command. They are all very different. My favorite...

[Scoop?] Libris Mortis: The Book of the Undead, from WotC

I for one hope they include a Necromancer base class. IMO it is the one focus that has yet to see a good set of rules. Sure we have the Cleric and or Wizard that can focus on necromantic spells or one of the many of prestige classes published so far that try to narrow the focus even more. I...

    28 Days Later [DVD]

I only saw it at the theater so I only got to see one ending. Anyone care to spoil the other endings for me? I'd greatly apreciate it.

Musings on a A Song of Ice and Fire [SPOILERS]...

What impresses me the most about the series is how all the characters, with few exceptions, are prone to make mistakes, sometimes grave mistakes that cost them their lives. I agree with almost all of your opinions. The only character that leaves me wanting is Daenerys. I found her story...

    Eberron isn't Steampunk

Steampunk doesn't fit at all. Many people label the Iron Kingdoms Steampunk when it barely even fits the definition. Some fans actually refer to that setting as "fantasteam". Someone asked what the big deal was with calling it steampunk. We should not call it steampunk because there are some...

POLL: How will they mess up Eberron?

Have you ever heard of a self-fulfilling prophecy? I would not judge prematurely if I were you. You are only going to disappoint yourself. If you are actively looking to dislike a product I can guarantee that you will. I'm going to go on record here and predict that you will dislike Eberron...

    Straight Dope on Eberron . . .

Keith Baker is also the author of Crime & Punishment from Atlas Games. I highly recommend the book to anyone interested in adding law enforcement to a campaign. It includes rules for bounty hunters, justicars, mage hunters and spies among other useful material...

    Straight Dope on Eberron . . .

I think you hit the nail on the head. If magic was in fact real and people had the opportunity to fully develop it the setting would evolve very differently than, say, Grayhawk or FR. In all likelihood schools of magic would become both profitable and ubiquitous. Trading guilds would also...

Eberron and Action Points - Opinions?

I'm firmly with Psion on this one. The per level limitation as opposed to the per session one seen in Spycraft completely changed my opinion of the classes as presented in D20 Modern. I don't hate D20 Modern but I hate the way action points work.
