D&D 4E 4E: What we think we know

One important piece of the puzzle I just found is that D&Dinsider will cost $10/month starting in 2008. It will be free 'till then. The price sounds just about right. Source: D&D insider fact sheet Morrus has on the front page.

I would not hold my breath. From the InQUest Magazine website:

D&D 4E 4E: What we think we know

The question is if it will keep all the people you play with toasty warm for the next 8 years?

    D&D 4E Will 4E be backwards compatible?

Form the article on the InQuest website: Time to face reality, the new edition will cost you money. If anyone finds that objectionable then may I suggest you blame capitalism. Spending $40 on a 3.5 book or spending it on a 4.0 book is all the same to me.

D&D 4E 4E: What we think we know

I agree and I wasn't implying anything different. I was just saying that when the new psionics rules come out I hope the new power source/resource management rules will be taken advantage of to make them as seamless as possible. It seems like most designers are allergic to psionics which is...

D&D 4E 4E: New power sources, new resource management

These new power source/resource management rules have come up for several reasons no doubt. First because there are so many who have such a strong dislike for the Vancian magic system but also because TBo9S presented a way to do things differently without changing the feel of the game that much...

D&D 4E 4E: What we think we know

I'm calling it now. They are eliminating Gnomes and Bards from the PHB. And as far as this new resource management/power source tease we've been given I think it has to do with the limitations of psionics in the game. The psionics rules are awesome but the one problem we have with them is that...

    The big announcement: 4dventure

This is hilarious except for the fact that just yesterday you were at code yellow (Elevated) and now you've jumped Orange (High) and went straight to Red (Severe). I think your code is flawed. We should have had more warning. It should have been at Orange all this time.

    The big announcement: 4dventure

Buying a 3.5 book and buying a 4.0 book should cost the same. I knew there was a reason I stopped buying crunch books over a year ago. And a tip of the hat to Monte Cook who called this a long time ago.

    Necromancer's City of Brass

I'd like to read a review or two myself. I'm also waiting to hear what WotC's big announcements are before I sink any more money on D20. I suspect I'll own it by this time next week. Ari, are you one of the writers? How much Epic material does it include?

Pathfinder 1E An open letter to Paizo

Game shops sell plush dolls of evil gods that want to destroy the world (Cthulhu) but a plush of stoner is somehow unacceptable? That's a bit hypocritical no? It's a stupid product and I can't understand why anyone would ever buy it but if the US constitution protects the the rights of people...

17% guessed 4th ed would be released, 83% did not.

In a recent Gleemax podcast they spoke to Chris Perkins, WotC story manager. He's in charge of D&D and D20 Modern among other things. He didn't really speak about the future of either game, in fact the interview was completely devoid of any substance, he talks a lot but says nothing. He did...

What he said. I'm a big fan of D&D and I'd never heard of Winter Fantasy whateveritscalled until recently. If I go to one major convention per year it's GenCon not Winter Fantasy. But who knows stranger thinkgs have happened. StarCraft II was anounced in Korea for example.

DUNE: questions about a RPG game.

Alas indeed. The outline is a fun read and it looks like the first chapter was almost complete. I'd love to see the map of the Arakeen palace. Was it ever drawn up?

DUNE: questions about a RPG game.

Yep, that's the CODA version. What's interesting is that in reading the outline I mentioned above it bills itself as an adventure designed to take characters from 1st through 10th level. Like I said, I haven't looked at the book in a couple of years but I don't really remember levels being part...

17% guessed 4th ed would be released, 83% did not.

My guess is that they will elaborate on the DI (I'm hoping for a chargen software) and specifically Dragon and Dungeon magazines online. If they're smart they will provide the first issues of each magazine for free so everyone can sample the new product and get over their grumpyness. Until...

DUNE: questions about a RPG game.

I've never seen it done for d20 but some of this was done for the CODA system Dune RPG that came out 5+ year ago. It's been years since I looked at my copy of the game. If I recall correctly it does not include any stats for major protagonists from the novel. I don't know if it even included...
