What do you think of the Duskblade?

That's nothing compared to the swordsage. Rather than separating it in sword-sage, I always think of it as a portmanteau of sword and sausage.

Would you roll the d4 if...

With the caveat that we're assured of getting it back quickly, then yes, no problem. Otherwise, I'd roll the bones, but only if I'm not playing a wizard. Starting a new campaign at low level as a wizard without a spellbook... It's like starting the campaign as a smarty-pants commoner.

    Monsters of Cool

The Trow is actually a Troll, not a svart (black) Alf (elf). The word drow is said to have a much more dumbass origin: "We need a name for our race of evil, bizarro elves!" "What about a reversed word, the anti-elf could be the 'fle'..." "A reverse word is cool, but 'fle' sucks." "A reversed...

    Monsters of Suck

Yeah, but for no reason other than "we can't give class levels to monsters so we have to create new monster races to have a standard monster with a different statblock".

Behold the mighty... Tim Ram! (and other stupid names)

Looking for a name for his halfling rogue, seeing the ad on the back of a Linux Magazine, a friend of mine came up with... Redat.

    Pirates in Eberron?

It's actually quite possible, I remember people putting the continent of the Diamond Throne to the west of Xen'drik and saying it was from there that the giants came. The Dramojh can be tied to the Daelkyrs (spooky aberrations from the plane of madness), who invaded Eberron long ago (before...

    Pirates in Eberron?

Basically, imagine a country where all the leaders are possessed by "demons" (not actual demons in the D&D sense, they're more like nightmare entities) that give them (the leaders) superhuman capacities to let them rule the country in a way the demons like (a sort of Brave New World in the...

    Pirates in Eberron?

The Lhazaarites are just like Spanish fishermen, they don't ply the waves in their own waters, they make a long trip to a target-rich environment, plunder to their heart's content, and then come back to the safety of their home, far from the angry Canadians. :D

What self-respecting villain would miss an opportunity for monologue? The silent type exists, but usually they end up being lackeys for gloating masters. Example, Darth Maul. And heck, I'd say Darth Maul isn't a real villain anyway. Sure, he looks like some sort of demon, and he attacks the...

    Monsters of Suck

I actually like the WiSC. You've got to forget all the rational baggage of the real world, and do away entirely with the cumbersome concepts of evolution and plausibility. It's a fantasy world. Magic exists. Demons and devils and fey and aberrations and gods and wizards exist. Come on, tell me...

    Monster Manual V ?!

Classed monsters from the various MMs? Alright, but in a book with a title such as "Enemies & Allies" or something like that. It's a conceptual issue. A monster manual should be about new monsters, not about duplicating the previous MMs, and neither about ready-made NPCs.

    Order of the stick, 436

V is an elf. A pretentious elf. So, naturally, V thinks everything that's not an elf is stupid -- including the humans he's talking to. And you should read what he had to say about Halfling intelligence... As far as V is concerned, s/he is the most intelligent creature in the universe, the rest...

Oh yes. Looking at the giant's forums by curiosity, I saw this thread and it made the strip funnier. Looks like the prophecy didn't try hard enough this time... :p

    Eberron's Worth...

"Robot" is an interesting term. It comes from a Czech ("robot" actually is derived from the Czech verb "robota", to work) theater play where the robots actually looked very much like humans. The word "robot" evolved in parallel in the realms of fiction (where it became the metal men we're all...

What do you think of the Duskblade?

I've got your solution right here: pronounce "the elves" as "Elvis".

    Ninjas!

I would have voted "are a historical oddity from Japan" if they were really an oddity. But the Hashishins and the Thugs are other example of sects of fanatized murderers.

I think he has Alzheimer's. His long-term memory seems to work out OK, as he still remembers the basics -- like who is Xykon, who is Redcloak, and what spells are on the cleric's list -- but his short-term memory is faulty. For a very little while, he remembers stuff that was just said, but...

"Exterminate!" (A Dr. Who-inspired idea for modrons)

Rather than exterminators, having them as self-styled and invasive "guides" telling people how to live and wanting to RE-E-DU-CATE dissenters could avoid recasting them as lawful evil (more like LN with evil tendencies). Something a bit Borglike, too. ASS-I-MI-LATE. Hey, what if beneath the...
