The Proper Use of Nudity in FRPG Art

If countless scars and scratches and bruises and knocked-out teeth and burns and bad hygiene from camping outside and eating only dried old rations and the occasional mutilation count as "good shape" then yes. Yes they do.

    D&D Modules on Wikipedia

The webcomic crowd has had to deal with deletionism too. There's a good summary of the whole deal on Slashdot: "Howard Tayler, the webcomic artist of Schlock Mercenary fame, is calling on people not to donate money during the latest Wikimedia Foundation fund-raiser. This is to protest the...

    The Gnome Poll

As a player: four gnomes, one halfling, one half-orc, six humans, one changeling. As a DM, countless NPCs, but I've got a half-dozen important Gnome NPCs in my homebrew, and something like three or four in Eberron.

    Sense-of-Wonder Travel Campaign?

Good timing, there just was this (sense of) wonderful quote about sense of wonder travel in RPG campaigns:

Why are most dungeon entrances on the south?

See how deeply the "north on top" assumption affected you? :p

Why are most dungeon entrances on the south?

Nope, it's just a convention. The north can be anywhere on a map. I've seen world maps from Australia that put the South on top, so that Australia was in a center-top position rather than in the bottom-right corner as is the case on the "standard" world map. This site brings a bit of...

Why are most dungeon entrances on the south?

It's to get more sun. When you only have one entrance, you have to maximize the light intake as much as possible. Note that for dungeons situated in the southern hemisphere, then the entrance is, logically, on the north.

Therkla can't be Roy's player's new character since everybody has revealed that Therkla was Haley, Sabine and Undead Miko (all at once, it seemed) and none of them are played by Roy's player. :p

    Average of exploding dice?

    First I inferred the same thing as interwyrm. But what brehobit meant was that if you roll 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 it's what you got; while if you roll 5 you reroll a die and add it to 5. So you can get: 1 2 3 4 6 5+1, 5+2, 5+3, 5+4, 5+6 5+5+1, 5+5+2, 5+5+3, 5+5+4, 5+5+6 5+5+5+1, etc.

    Average of exploding dice?

Which accounts to about exactly the same thing. If they roll 6 then 1, Nifft has (6-1) + (1) Brehobit has (6) + (1-1) Whether you substract one from the exploding die or the reroll die doesn't change anything to the total sum... (Now, it would be different for a system like Ars Magica's...

Virtually and unintelligent. Lucky you! I couldn't use these qualifiers if I were talking the dietary habits of my players' characters... The only things that are behind their standards so far are humanoids, undead, oozes, and vermins.

    Oots #507

Sure, they absolutely should have kept a lot of rotting troll carcasses on board. It would make so much sense, any leader worth his salt should know that there's nothing better than a huge quantity of carrion in the midst of a crowded population. To wit, one of the earliest strategy of...
