    eDragon: Starlock feats and powers

Overall I really like the article. But I agree that feat is problematic. I don't like that it makes tieflings so much better at being warlocks than any other. But in any case it seems way overpowered for a feat. Just allowing a warlock to gain the benefits of another pact on all powers which...

    Dragon 366 - Wish Upon A Star

Great article. The great flavor for star pact alone is enough to make it awesome. The powers seem balanced at first glance (but need more careful review). The tiefling only feat does seem too strong, since it grants a bonus at will power and all the benefits that come with many powers which...

    Figurines of Wondrous Power!

The summoning lasts 8 hours, so you can easily summon the dog outside of combat so as not to use up actions in combat to summon. You only need to worry about the minor actions you use during combat to control the dog.

Size limits on forced movement of enemies?

Yes, if possible, I think it's better to allow the power to have the intended effect. You just need to find a good explanation. In your case, the rogue doesn't force the jelly to move with his dagger, but stabs it in to moving towards him, and manages to tumble around or over the jelly...

    D&D 4E D&D 4E Tips/Tricks/Advice

As a DM with players who are new to fourth edition (actually new to D&D), I've found that sometimes I need to remind them that they have action points they can choose to use. I also found it necessary to remind the players about subtracting healing surges when they use them up while healing...

Story Hour - Keep on the Shadowfell with first time D&D players

Down into the Keep’s Dungeons After cremating the remains of the desecrated farmers, the heroes headed into Winterhaven to rest and stock up on equipment. They looked for the mysterious elf woman who had previously plied Lozol with questions, but there was no sign of her in town. The locals...

New errata posted, stealth changes official

Has anyone tried using the new errataed stealth rules in practice in an actual game yet? I'm curious what your experience has been putting this in practice. I have to run a game for a group soon and will be using the new errata rules for the first time.

Explain to me why are these feats good?

I assume RC means Rules Compendium?

Siege of Bordrin's Watch - Scales of War Up

At first glance, this one seems better than the first one on the Path, if only because it seems to have interesting new monsters useable for other adventures. But the lack of an outline for the path means I have zero interest in running this, at least until I see more adventures in the path. I...

New errata posted, stealth changes official

Since a rogue sneak attack damage is double that of a warlock's curse damage or a ranger's hunter's quarry damage, I am pretty sure rogues are not supposed to be able to sneak attack every round. Perhaps about every other round might be closer to the goal of the design team, based on the amount...

    Collected Core Handbook Errata

The new August 11, 2008 errata for the PH makes Brew Potion a level 1 ritual, but the weakest potion, the potion of healing, at a mere 50 gp value, is a level 5 item. Perhaps potion of healing was meant to be a level 1 item?

    Rituals, lots of them !

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Brew Potion was now a first level ritual. Then I realized that even the puny 50 gp potion of healing is a level 5 item. What's the use of making the ritual 1st level if there is nothing you can create until 5th level anyway? Shouldn't potion of healing...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo Adventure Path Subscription Stinker

I agree with the OP. I generally have a pretty high opinion of Paizo, but like the OP, was thinking possibly of cancelling my subscription after I received the final adventure in the Crimson Throne path, since I now play exclusively Fourth Edition. I was still thinking about it, since I like...

Story Hour - Keep on the Shadowfell with first time D&D players

Dark Deeds on the Road to Winterhaven After defeating Irontooth and his kobolds in their lair, the heroes are ready to spend some of the loot they’ve found before tracking down this nefarious Kalarel. First they sleep for six hours at the kobold lair. Then they interrogate the kobold...

Adventure Paths: Which Ones Are You Enjoying?

I ran Shackled City as DM, and our group enjoyed it a lot. It did require some modifications to the plot and to some encounters, though. But the Paizo boards contained many detailed insightful posts from fans and Paizo staff, with suggestions for changing the path to make it significantly...

Necromancer Games NOT going with current GSL.

I was not exactly introduced to D&D by anyone. I did see some classmates in 7th grade looking at D&D books during lunch, but they never explained the game to me nor introduced me to it. One day a few months later I saw the red box Basic D&D game at K-Mart or some similar store, and asked my...

Necromancer Games NOT going with current GSL.

Wow. This news sucks. I really love 4e. But most of WOTC's adventures in the past have been several steps in quality below Paizo's. I was hoping Necromancer would help fill in the gap. Unless WOTC changes the GSL or drastically improves their adventures, this bodes ill for 4e. It doesn't...

    Last Breath of Ashenport up

I was disappointed by the first Scales of War adventure (poor use of a few very high level monsters instead of following 4E encounter philosophy of more monsters each of appropriate level). But this adventure set in Ashenport looks really good. I still need to read it again more carefully, but...

do monsters get surges and second wind?

Actually, NPC's do get Second Wind per the DMG. Monsters do not, however, unless the monster's statblock specifies the monster has that ability. But both monsters and NPCs have surges based on their tier (heroic =1, paragon =2, epic = 3) unless their statblock specifies otherwise.
