    D&D 5E (2014) I'd really, really like to hear about some fights with Strahd . . !

To make Strahd even more dangerous there is no reason why he shouldn't have one or more of the dark gifts . . .

Roman-Themed Living Arcanis Organised Play Campaign For 5E

Downloaded, will give it a read for sure. Looks great, although not printer friendly . . .

D&D 5E (2014) How do you read an adventure?

First time through cover to cover, although quick skim. Second time around read section(s) in play order in more detail. I recently started (CoS) writing right in the book in pencil, making check marks, X's, question marks, etc for stuff I want to follow up on, write down page #'s for PHB, MM...

    D&D 5E (2014) I'd really, really like to hear about some fights with Strahd . . !

I can see why you were disappointed . . .too bad! No sense rehashing it as it's done now, but suffice to say Strahd should have been tougher.

D&D 5E (2014) One of the biggest problems with WoTC's vision of published adventures

I've used a few Pathfinder adventures, converting them can be as easy or as complicated as you like. Prepping a WOTC one compared to a Paizo one can take the same amount of time, or even less depending on how particular you are. I've used Feast of Ravenmoor & Fangwood Keep and they were both...

    D&D 5E (2014) I'd really, really like to hear about some fights with Strahd . . !

Whaaat? What was Strahd doing this whole time - texting ;) ? Seriously though, if the group came up with a clever plan I'd like to hear details. Strahd has allies, minions, spells, spider climb, crazy mobility, legendary saves, lair actions, legendary actions, etc. He can act / move when it's...

    D&D 5E (2014) I'd really, really like to hear about some fights with Strahd . . !

My group just had closest scrape with him yet. His movement is crazy due to his legendary / lair actions and he messed the party up a little bit. The PCs are exploring the castle now, and he's going to pop in from time to time to harass them. Aside from that we'll see what the PCs do. Messing...

D&D 5E (2014) Curse of Strahd for Dummies (confessions of a DM new to the idea of 'sandbox' blecch!!)

Evilbob - would have killed you to do all that up in a nice infographic? ;) Nice, thanks!

D&D 5E (2014) Curse of Strahd for Dummies (confessions of a DM new to the idea of 'sandbox' blecch!!)

I really like Kreszk, and plan to use it. It's open ended and players can go about it any number of ways but it makes sense. Some of the other sections go on and on, and I'm struggling with why the players would care or even bother.

D&D 5E (2014) Curse of Strahd for Dummies (confessions of a DM new to the idea of 'sandbox' blecch!!)

OK so I get the idea, but really at a loss as to how to make it actually work! Either no obvious options as to what to do, or way too many options as to what to do, and I'm kind of flummoxed but would like to give it a try. A flow chart of options in each chapter would be great . . ...

    D&D 5E (2014) Death in the cornfields

Thanks, good suggestions, still thinking it over. Elias is not going to simply sit there and wait to get clobbered, and even with hit & run it's still 5 against one. Other ideas so far: - Elias takes burlap, corn husks etc from barn and uses them to set fire to the house, driving PCs outside...

    D&D 5E (2014) Death in the cornfields

Session notes 5 PCs, all just made 3rd (Human Fighter, Elven Monk, Halfling Rogue, Half-Elven Wizard, Dwarf Cleric). We hadn't played for 2 weeks and I knew some of my hack & slash gang were itching for a good fight, so I gave them one. Mud bowl encounter in a rain storm in the forest with...

    D&D 5E (2014) Death in the cornfields

Impressed with my techno-peasant self for figuring out the spoiler thing . . ! Looking forward to running it Monday, will let you know how it goes. Great for messing with a few of my meta-gamey players . . !

    D&D 5E (2014) Death in the cornfields

First off, I like the adventure and have come up with a few ideas to get around what I see to be (for sure) a totally nit-picky point. Dead people don't talk (usually ;))! I don't have the adventure in front of me. If Elias (?) was attacked and killed by the vampire (Strahd or other) then he...

D&D 5E (2014) New DM with New Players, looking for help!

Lost Mines is a great starter adventure, it has a lots you can work with. You can change whatever you want if you don't like it, but it's not overly gross, grim, or dark. 10 easy 15 medium 20 hard 25 really hard! I don't have my book handy, check out jumping in index of Player's Handbook. If...

D&D 5E (2014) New DM with New Players, looking for help!

Sounds like a blast, glad ya'll are having fun! Totally understand your need for adventures that fit your family. If you pick up the starter box set it contains a great 64 page adventure called the Lost Mines of Phandelver. It would take your group quite a few sessions to work through it and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best one shot 5e adventures?

Ran Troll Trouble from dmsguild this past Monday, group had a good time. Next up Shadows on the Long Road (also from dmsguild). If memory serves they were both free, I don't think I've actually spent $ yet.

    D&D 5E (2014) Pathfinder adventures - nice!

First off, not affiliated or otherwise connected to Paizo, etc. Dabbled a bit with Pathfinder last year and had fun with group but found game complex for my taste. That being said, came across 2 great modules that I plan on using for my 5E group : Feast of Ravenmoor & Fangwood Keep. After a...
