    Essentials Swashbuckling Slayer

As Aulirophile said, Light Blades are currently just about the best supported weapon type in the game. I'd add Surprising charge as another good feat, given the Slayer's natural propensity for Charge builds. In addition, you could MC into rogue for access to Sneak Attack 1/encounter, and some of...

Star pact hexblade and student of Caiphon

One way is to take Arcane Implement Proficiency or Swordmage MC (you should have the int for it if you're a Star Pact Hexblade) and use a Radiant Weapon.

Poll: Allignment effect on intended game play actions

Similarly, I keep my character's personality in mind, more than his alignment, when making decisions. Sometimes, that means the character's central alignment can shift due to in-game actions, even though his central morality system hasn't changed much. Circumstances can change a lot about what...

    Backing up the CB Classic

As I said before, the only real program I know of that can restore installed programs, is Norton Ghost, which would create a backup of your entire system. Not sure that's what you're looking for. The ones I've heard about had one combined update patch, with all the updated data contained...

    New CB printing madness

This, although I'd not go below 300 DPI, myself. I did try 144, but some of the text on the power cards became very hard to read. Using a PDF printer will bring in image compression, leaving you with a PDF file of a couple of megabytes, which most printers should be able to handle. Also...

Is it possible to houserule feats in new CB?

This is one of the biggest annoyances with the new CB for me, too. I hand out Expertise and Defense feats for free, which makes the whole lack of houseruled feats annoying. For now, we work our way around it. My players just hit Paragon Tier (after playing for 2 years), so they write down their...

New Character Builder - superior armor?

Again, uncheck the "Show suggested items" checkbox to fix this problem. My level 12 cleric|invoker is quite happy with his +3 Healer's Braidmail.

New Character Builder - superior armor?

Most importantly: uncheck the "Show Suggested Items" checkbox, which for some reason seems to hide Masterwork Armor. Once it's unchecked, the drop down box for "Item" should list the superior types.

So, how many are avoiding Essentials?

Except your second and third points are, again, addtions. They didn't change the old Warlock, they just made a new variant that uses Cha as primary statistic; likewise, they didn't remove the old expertise feats, they made new ones that are indeed a lot better - you may say that is in effect...

    Online Character Builder is LIVE!

Oldtimer: I had a similar problem for a while, but I waited for 5 minutes between logins, switched to another browser (I normally use Firefox, switched to IE8), and was able to log in correctly there. When I went back to Firefox later, the problem was fixed there, too. Hope that helps.

    WotC CB Multiclass Feat Issues

There's a trick from the WotC forums to get around this particular bug. I don't remember exactly where I found it, but I believe it entailed directly logging into vecna.wizards.com, copying the contents for your mage using the 'debug' window and saving him to a .dnd4e file using a text-editor...

The Dungeons & Dragons Virtual Table

This looks... interesting. I don't think I'm going to be using it, since I have plenty of offline tabletop opportunities in the area where I live - it's one of the advantages of living in a very densely populated country. It will mostly be interesting to see if they can pull it off, and how well...

    Online Character Builder is LIVE!

That's not a good idea. The latest update removed RPGA items from the Compendium and the Builder - there was some noise of RPGA fans about this, already - so it's not there for a reason.

    Question about Charging...

About what you'd guess from reading the update and the feat: nothing. The feat was published before the update to the Charge rules, and since the update, it's basically a completely dead feat. To clarify, the old Charge rules required you to move adjacent. This requirement has been removed in...

    Backing up the CB Classic

Not normally, no. I'm only familiar with programs that create ghost images of your complete installation (like Norton Ghost). They make reinstalling a snap, and do restore your installed programs, but they also copy the rest of your installation. They are usually used on an installation in a...

    Backing up the CB Classic

I realize that. What I was trying to allude to, without actually promoting it, is that there may be less legitimate ways to gain access to that data, whether or not you acquired legitimate access to it. I don't know for sure if these ways exist, or where you find them, but since WotC points...

    Backing up the CB Classic

Let me put it this way: given that WotC has taken down the service that would update the database of your old CB, there is no legitimate way to update an out-of-date installation of the old CB.

So, how many are avoiding Essentials?

Eh. That doesn't change existing rangers, druids, or fighters in any way, shape, or form. Yeah, they added new builds for these classes that actually fill different roles. But that still falls under options, not changing the existing gameplay. I'll give you these, but it's not like these are...

So, how many are avoiding Essentials?

Not to drag out this debate again, but besides some general rules revisions, most of Essentials didn't change the existing classes, powers, feats, or any game-central systems nearly as much as the 3.0->3.5 transition. The only real exception I can see is the change to the Rogue's sneak attack...

Dwarven Weapon Training and Adventurer's Vault Weapons

If that's your main fear, introduce whatever hammer or axe you wish, and remodel the feat to +2 damage and proficiency with military axes and hammers, and the craghammer, mordenkrad, waraxe and execution axe. Problem solved. Flavourwise, I'd at least keep the mordenkrad/craghammer proficiency...
