    July Errata is up

If Dragon options are allowed, have a look at "Swift Parry" at level 6. It's an encounter power which adds your charisma modifier to defenses vs. one attack as an interrupt, and gives you combat advantage against the attacker for one turn. It's basically the Rogue's version of Shield, with...

    Hybrid Exercise Ideas

Some other good ones: Swordmage|Artificer Warlord|Barbarian Warlord|Wizard Seeker|Ranger In general, Wizards, Swordmages, and Warlords make excellent hybrids, because they don't lose much with hybriding, and can gain most of it back using a single feat.

Can I Build a Tank-Artificer or a Battlemind Item Craftsman?

A few things to note here. First of all, most controllers and some leaders tend to target NADs (Non-AC Defenses), which are supposed to be about 2-3 points lower than AC, which is why you see the difference in attack bonus. Well, that, and weapon talent fighters are more accurate than most...

Do you want updated core books?

Given the current rate of errata, buying updated core books seems kind of pointless to me. Even more so because I pay for DDI every month, which I use for more or less every rules-related issue in the book. So, no, I would not pay for updated books.

Lead the Attack Nerf future implications

A well-deserved nerf, and I'm playing a tactical warlord right now. Giving the team a +5 (at first) to hit for the entire encounter is crazy; what's worse is that missing with it is terrible. It's basically a prolonged version of the good old save-or-die. Actually, Lead the Attack has always...

Campaign Choices You've Made On Races

I started a new homebrew setting when 4E first came out, and since I predicted this exact issue would come up, I designed the setting with this in mind. The players started the game in a city-state of millions, and there is very little known of the world outside said city. Historically speaking...

Swordmage's Aegis of Shielding & Transposing Lunge

In some more words: the damage reduction part of the aegis of shielding power can be used once/round. That is, he can use it once in between every time his initiative comes up. This allows him to act as a defender (once per encoutner would suck enormously). As for Transposing Lunge, let's look...

Have sheilds been errated to be not arms slot items?

No. Just as always, if you equip both a shield and a pair of bracers, it's the last one to be equipped that is considered to be 'active'. I doubt the CB takes that rule into account, however. In general, using the CB as a rules reference is not a great idea. While it is a great tool for some...

    Confounding Arrows

I don't see how RAW is not clear on this. There are 3 different attacks (cfr. Twin Strike being two attacks), and the extra 2[W] damage counts as bonus damage for the third attack (as it only gets added if you hit the same target three times). This means that, by RAW, critting on the first two...

    Confounding Arrows

Actually, it says "3 attacks, 1[W]+Dex per attack". Meaning that, if you target one target three times, you should get this: Hit once: 1[W]+ Mods, dazed (save ends). Hit twice: 1[W] + Mods + 1[W] + Mods, stunned (save ends). Hit thrice: 1[W] + Mods + 1[W] + Mods + 1[W] + Mods + 2[W], stunned...

    Purchasing Magic Items

My game has an NPC Genasi craftsman who will make magic items on request (for the right price, of course), which is more or less "Ye Olde Magick Shoppe", but with a bit more personality to the character. Now, I do ask for wish-lists every few levels, and I don't hand out that much gold, but in...

    New Epic Destinies

I don't see the reasoning behind the cries of 'overpowered'. The de facto most powerful ED in the game has always been Demigod, because it has the complete package: it has +2 to two stats of your choice (the most important factor, really), an amazing daily utility (regeneration 26 or so? Yes...

    Fewer conditions?

I've been pondering a universal way to make (save ends) effects more effective across the board. The main problem with them, IMO, is that it requires careful manipulation of the initiative order to be at its most effective. This happens, of course, because save ends effects are checked at the...

Help me fill a spy's backpack

I just want to thank everyone for the comments in this thread :). I've been watching Burn Notice for a while, which inspired me to make a spy-type character. My next character was actually going in the same direction as this one (in fact, I was making him a Changeling Rogue as well), so I'm...

Hybrid Classes...Anybody seen a good one lately?

This is Alastor Caine (yeah, I like dramatic names), my Elf invoker|Cleric I've been playing since level 2. I'm now at level 9, and never had the feeling my character didn't have enough healing power to provide for our group of 5-6 players (I hybrided him partially because I had too much...

    What's Your (Favourite) Role?

For me it's leader, followed closely by controller. I love giving other players bonuses, and messing with enemy strategies. I've got my sights set on playing a tactical warlord sometime, but for now, I'm happily playing my Invoker|Cleric (level 9); hell, my invoker encounter powers (lightning's...

Starblade Furry: Best Monk feat ever?

It doesn't give you any extra targets, though. It just allows you to use your flurry damage against a creature up to 5 squares away. Still, from paragon onwards (which is when you can get it), this is very useful indeed, cause you won't always have two flurry targets within melee range.

Thrown Weapon Seeker with nothing to throw...

How about a Farbond Spellblade? You're forced to use a specific weapon enhancement, true, but that way you can throw a fullblade at people. Which, let's be honest, is awesome.

question about dunken monkey monk power

Open the gates is indeed better as a pure damage power, but like you said: using Drunken Monkey on a creature marked by someone with a damaging mark (fighter, paladin, warden...) can be pretty brutal, especially if they attack themselves. First you hit them, then they draw an attack from the...

    Phasing Strike

That's because it's contained within the rules text for phasing: A square with a wall or other obstacle in it is not an unoccupied space, so no pushing people inside walls.
