    4 Things I Saw At Dragonmeet 2018

World Anvil looks pretty cool. It seems very similar to Obsidian Portal, but with a few more useful tools to use.

News Digest: More D&D Releases for 2019, Basic D&D Updated, Steve Jackson Games Reviving Classic Gam

Well at least this explains my confusion about the GF9 Monster Cards. When I saw them with a release date of February I was starting to wonder if I was seeing things, as I swore that I had already seen them for sale at a local gaming store. Good to know I wasn't going crazy! :-D

Poll of the Week: What's the best gift for your GM?

I voted minis and terrain, but honestly I'd be happy with anything. In all my years of DMing, the only think I ever received as a gift from a player was a d100 (which was very gratefully received).

First Impressions – Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage

Yep, I too am very keen to know whether the map packs are worth it, or if I'm just paying for a loose-leaf reprint of the maps in the book.

Waterdeep: Dungeon Of The Mad Mage Preview Roundup!

Nice work! Do you know what the map pack maps will look like? Are they just loose leaf reprints of the maps you drew for the hardcover? Or are they a different size or different maps?

Waterdeep: Dungeon Of The Mad Mage Preview Roundup!

Has any information come out about the Map Pack that is being released at the same time? I’m trying to figure out whether it will help in running the campaign or if it is just reprinting maps in loose leaf format?

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC's Nathan Stewart Teases New D&D Setting Book in 2019

They also haven’t released a setting book in years. The last setting book they released (and the only one in 5E) was done by a third party.

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC's Nathan Stewart Teases New D&D Setting Book in 2019

I took this as either: a. He meant to say “A book we have not yet created”. So either the book is not yet written, or even possibly that it is about part of a setting that has not been written about before in previous editions. b. He means that it was farmed out to another company to write...

Iconic Game Designer Greg Stafford Passes Away

Wow, I’m shocked. :( We lost one of the greats. Vale Greg.

    Breaking Morale

I miss the 2E morale rules. I wouldn’t try and put them on the PCs, but I think it is good for monsters to not fight to the death every single time. Yes, I could rule on it ad-hoc, but I liked the 2E system where different monsters had different levels at which they would flee (I.e. Goblins...

News Digest: More Dragon Heist Products, Pathfinder Playtest Update, Fortnite to Tabletop, and more!

This is fairly standard for a nicely detailed and well cast mini of that type (which the GF9 ones are). There are plenty of similar minis that are sold for much higher that that.

    Choose Your Own D&D Adventure!

I’ll be buying at least one for my 10yo and 8yo to try out. They’ve loved the kids RPGs I’ve played with them, so I think they will enjoy these too.

Where Are All the Dungeon Masters?

I was exclusively a player for my first decade of gaming (other than a 6 session DM stint that I was happy to get out of as soon as I could). Then I took a break from gaming and the only real way to get a group going again was to offer to run a game myself. Our current group has 7 people total...

Tink-Tink-Boom vs. the Death Spiral: The Damage Mechanic in RPGs

Yep, this is where I land. A death spiral more accurately reflects combat compared to the "operating at 100% at 1 HP, unconscious at 0 HP" TTB mechanic. However, in practice, the TTB mechanic works better. My best memory of a RPG with death spiral mechanic was Harn. It was brutal, with wounds...

Core Rules Alternative Cover Gift Set

I’m in Australia and have had nothing but fantastic dealings with Noble Knight Games. I’d definitely recommend them.

Core Rules Alternative Cover Gift Set

So don’t buy it then. I already own the core rule books and won’t be buying this set as I don’t feel the need to rebuy them to get the slipcase or the collector’s editions. However, there are people out there that do want that, so I’m happy for them that the product will now be available.
