D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Reveals New Golden Vault Details

I’m not sure any time is a good time for WotC to promote crypto, but changing your logo to a coin after the money grab attempts of the past month is just stupid dumb.

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Reveals New Golden Vault Details

Just came across this on Facebook. Totally thought it was a parody at first. Can WotC not read the room?

    RPG Evolution: Fixing the Mess

No one has fallen on their sword for this yet. And there is no guarantee that they won't try and do this again at some point in the future, since they haven't announced that they will make the OGL irrevocable, just that they won't be trying to revoke it at this point in time.

D&D 5E (2014) Which D&D books currently scheduled for 2023 are you interested in?

Seeing this thread makes me a bit torn. On one hand, even with WotC backing down on deauthorising the OGL, their actions have still left me not wanting to give them any money. On the other hand, I was really looking forward to at least the Phandelver Campaign and Planescape books, with some...

WotC Backs Down: Original OGL To Be Left Untouched; Whole 5E Rules Released as Creative Commons

I wouldn’t call it a complete back down. For that to happen WotC would need to amend the OGL to make it absolutely clear it is irrevocable, removing any doubt and uncertainty around the licence for the future. This is pretty close to that though.

OGL v1.2 Survey Feedback: 'Hasn't Hit The Mark'

“Hasn’t hit the mark” - Not sure if they’re still oblivious or if that’s marketing speak for “we totally stuffed this up and we know it, but we need more time to convince the execs this won’t work”.

Pathfinder, Cthulhu, Level Up: D&D Competitors Start To Sell Out

These companies must love that the big gorilla in the room has done more to boost their sales for them indirectly than they have been able to do directly themselves in a long time.

Cubicle 7 Also Announces A New 'C7d20' System

WotC have done a really good job of getting all the major 3rd party producers for D&D to either band together against them or shift to their own system in record time. And all for the low, low cost of all their community goodwill and zero new revenue. Great work WotC execs!

D&D General WotC Reveals New Information and Covers for 'Keys from the Golden Vault'

Yeah, the people that produced this book are on a hiding to nothing through no fault of their own.

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

This movie continues to surprise me by appearing to not be terrible. So far it looks miles better than previous D&D movies.

D&D General Is D&D Survey Feedback Read? [UPDATED!]

If you’re spending half a second per comment, you’re not reading them. And you’re not doing that for 8 hours per day for a year.

D&D General Is D&D Survey Feedback Read? [UPDATED!]

There’s also a designer claiming to have read 500k pieces of feedback in a year, despite that requiring they read 4 bits of feedback per minute for 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. So I’m not really inclined to trust that sort of info.

D&D General Is D&D Survey Feedback Read? [UPDATED!]

Assuming a 5 day work week, they would have read almost 2,000 comments per day, every single work day. That's 240 comments read per hour for 8 hours a day. So they're claiming that they read 1 comment every 15 seconds for 8 hours straight, for a whole year. Yeah, I'm not sure I believe that.

D&D 5E (2024) RPG Evolution: The Art of the Apology

The worst bit is that the people at WotC that wanted the info still couldn't get it after requesting it.

D&D 5E (2024) RPG Evolution: The Art of the Apology

I am absolutely shocked that WotC executives don't care about D&D. So shocked! /s

D&D 5E (2024) RPG Evolution: The Art of the Apology

Like most posters here, I think you’re being generous with your grading. Definitely not a B for addressing the issue for me when they basically skip over the deauthorising of the OGL, which is the biggest part of the change. Same with the contrition. It was a “sorry you got upset by what we...

OGL: What Are The Publishers Saying [UPDATED]

WotC have shot themselves in the foot on so many levels. It totally smacks of upper management or lawyers making a decision, expecting fans and 3PP to just be grateful they can play in their sandbox, no matter the cost. Instead what they’ve done is: - Piss off a big chunk off their fan base...

OGL: Kobold Press 'Raising Our Flag' For New Open RPG

WotC have shot themselves in the foot on so many levels with this move. They’ve pissed off a big chunk off their fan base and lost the goodwill they’ve built over the past decade. They’ve tried to bully small- and medium-sized publishers into signing their new OGL. They’ve eliminated a lot of...
