D&D Adventurers League Open Call for Designers

I'm not sure I got the best grasp of what they were looking for in the exploration scenario. I would have loved to have seen an example.

D&D Adventurers League Open Call for Designers

I was the same boat in that, while I had been organizing things mentally for awhile, I only got it down on paper late. I tried to proofread it as much as possible but... like you, it was late. ;) What were your scenarios?

Sorry to hear. When did you send in your submission? I submitted pretty late-- haven't heard anything back yet.

Thanks for the heads-up-- picked up a couple of things I'd had my eye on.

    Query about final confrontation

It really comes down to whether you trust your DM to roleplay the enemy or meta-game it.

    I Attack the Darkness... Seriously

I would say no, at least in this example. I read the Warlord's powers as triggering off of his combat effectiveness, either, in the case of an Inspiring Warlord, because his successful attacks inspire his comrades or, in the case of the Tactical Warlord, because his successful attacks create...

    Hydras and AoOs

Hmm... I wonder if I wouldn't play it that each head gets two AoOs so that the Hydra gets [# of Heads] x 2 AoO per turn but, for any individual AoO, it can only use one head once, not gang up and hit some poor sap with an attack from each head for a single AoO. But that's just me. ;)

    Help With Spiderfolk Race

Given all the abilities you'd like the race to have, I'd go with Nifft's suggestion and use racial feats and the like. Otherwise, I would jettison the second set of arms, and then offer a choice of paralysis bite (1/day), spider climb (1/day), web (1/day), or multiple eye vision bonuses.

[Pimp My BBEG] Zargon from B4: The Lost City

I don't know if this is obvious or not but I would look at some different monsters that are at the challenge level you're looking for and then strip down Zargon until he becomes roughly an equal challenge to those (ie. similar HP, number of attacks, damage, magic, etc.). Or you could simply...

[Pimp My BBEG] Zargon from B4: The Lost City

Downgrade Dragon Zargon? Have you thought about downgrading the Zargon from Dragon until it's suitably challenging (but not impossible) for your PCs to handle?

    Creating A Ranger-Scout PC

I'm creating a level 6 PC for a campaign and, for some reason, I've been fixated on creating a ranger or scout. Being unable to choose, I went multi-class and did both.Male Human Ranger 3 / Scout 3 Neutral Good Strength 14 (+2) Size: Medium Dexterity 18 (+4) Height: 6' 0" Constitution...

    From ship to dungeon...hmmm

I actually like Kid Charlemagne's original idea the best. The "dirty goblin" feels a bit cliché. What if the players become stuck in a grotto and the grotto becomes the dungeon entrance? They could be in a row boat - trying to escape from pirates - and race into the grotto for shelter only to...

Voluntarily failing saves when spellcasters lie

I would not rule consent as forgoing the saving throw in this instance unless the spellcaster says something like "This is going to hurt. You're going to want to resist but don't." and then I would, when it begins to hurt, give the player the option to resist or not. It may not be rules proper...

    Designing an Arabian Nights-flavored area

Well, Dune is pretty extreme in that regard but touches like the importance of offering or receiving water (Kingdom of Heaven) or merchants who buy, trade, or sell water, etc. to the wonder/horror associated with water-based effects/magics/monsters.

Deus ex Machina -- Now What?

Depending on how you want to work it, how about a a big good guy saves the character to try to defeat the BBEG by using this character as an inside man? Or, a lieutenant of the BBEG did it and the character may have to, at some point, choose allegiances. As for the price, perhaps some sort of...

    Designing an Arabian Nights-flavored area

As far as cultural things, you can emphasize the importance of water, both physically and symbolically (desert peoples), hospitality, honor, and slavery. Do they worship the same gods or their own pantheon? Don't forget tribal, clan divisions: mountain versus valley/plain versus desert...

    From ship to dungeon...hmmm

What if the ship sinks in a cove where the players are stuck in a cavern with a cave leading into your dungeon?
