    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

Iit is obvious that if you want to multiclass 50/50 like you tried and failed to do in 3.x, you should get your DM to devise a base class that splits basic features and can select powers from both. It won't be terribly balanced, but it'll be much better balanced than 3.x can be given flagrant...

    D&D 4E 4e mid encounter fatigue

I'll be coming up with homebrewed rules myself for the problem of at-will/encounter/daily powers. Most likely I'll make At-Will powers expendable but with the ability to recharge based on a d6 (like monsters), while Encounter powers recharge on criticals (maybe only once) and Daily powers can...

    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

Aye, we aren't talking about trying to make comboclassers into viable party members, because that hasn't or shouldn't ever have been the point. As hybrids their ability to perform specific roles is necessarily weaker. Personally I like the new system of multiclassing. I think it allows taking...

    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

The only question is how the normal Fighter Armor/Weapon proficiencies should be modified. Since they aren't pinned down at the moment, I just left 'em unchanged. But probably you'd have to take a feat to get full access. The Fighter loses some hitpoints, some healing surges, a skill rank, and...

    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

It would be very difficult for WotC to craft every combination of the base classes--determining which base class powers should be available for any given combo--with the effort of keeping them balanced. Too many. (Cleric/Fighter, Cleric/Paladin, Cleric/Ranger, Cleric/Rogue, Cleric/Warlock...

    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

A reason why it won't work, not a reason why it commits the Oberoni fallacy, which is irrelevant because if we're accepting logical fallacies we also have to accept the lack of evidence that these rules that I've created don't actually exist, as the full ruleset hasn't actually been stipulated...

    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

...*someone* reply and give me a good reason why this wouldn't work...I know you're out there... I should get a copyright to the term "comboclass" while it's hot.

    Excerpt: Multiclassing (merged)

Characters that "multiclass" by using Feats/Paragon powers are not supposed to necessarily be "more powerful" or "more playable" than characters that don't. There are a ton of similar feats and even powers that are situational. Like Ray of Frost or pretty much any non-healing Warlord ability...

    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

What the heck, I need more negative responses. Guess I'll change the title. Edit: For the record, my homebrewed class was extremely un-homebrewed, as it includes one new class ability and Feat, and that's it.

    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

I made this class in 10 minutes, and it's probably out of whack, but I'm guessing two playtesting sessions would make it perfectly viable for first level, considering how easy it is to adjust the stuff, unlike 3.x. My point is that it will be much easier to fix any particular player's problem...

    The new multiclassing: comboclassing

Hey, everybody: the new form of multiclassing is only for Dabbling in another class! In 4E, you can Dabble to a huge extent by epic level (we assume) but it isn't multiclassing! Give yourselves a hand! You are right about something. ...But so freaking what? The very definition of...

Penny Arcade is extremely funny. Constantly. For the last however many years. Very contextual, of course.

    Power Source Scoop?

Darn straight. WotC shouldn't friggin' leak this junk so early, bloody teases.

Ever played 3.x with munchkins? This would be worse, considering how hard WotC is trying to balance the utility of each class.

Tombowings, I'm pretty sure that the skill training and power/feature are a package deal. Aren't they?

    D&D 4E Rate your interest in 4e.

The cohesiveness of the methodology that determines dynamic character interaction (generally combat) is what I look for in a system. Rules for roleplaying or otherwise seem irrelevant to me, maybe because I generally play in low-combat games and the emphasis on such concepts is strong enough...

    Monster stats

4E is discriminatory against any level without a second digit of 0! It probably sucks to be 9th level.

THIS makes a bard a bard

I second the idea of Bards getting a limited healing surge-triggering ability as other leaders do. And I would make that Countersong ability an Encounter, rather than a Daily power; but that's just me. Personally I've always thought that bards should be defined by skill set...Fflewddur Flam...
