D&D 5E (2014) What are the "True Issues" with 5e?

I don't know that I do. In 3.x and 4e, you could casually purchase magic items. That's it. That's all that's missing. How much more support do you need for, Player: "Hey DM, I want to buy [expensive thing]." DM: "Okay, it costs [amount of money]."

D&D 5E (2014) What are the "True Issues" with 5e?

This issue has already been solved in several ways. 1. All the spells which require material components worth a certain amount of gp. Some of them have gp costs in the hundreds. 2. Player's Handbook pages 157-159. 3. Dungeon Master's Guide pages 126-131. 4. Dungeon Master's Guide page 257. 5...

WotC Jeremy Crawford Interview: High level play. By Christian Hoffer

All quite sensible. I wonder about Crawford's comment that in the upcoming Planescape product, players can "jump" to a high level. Why not just start them at a high level?

How do YOU decide what to run?

I usually have more than one idea for a campaign, so I poll my players on which idea they wamt to go forward with.

D&D General Should D&D Be "Hard"

Sometimes I want it rough. Sometimes I want it gentle. It depends on my mood A brick wall has 5d10 hit points and an armor class of 17 [Dungeon Master's Guide, 5th Edition, p.246-247]

D&D Adventurers League Welcomes Two Huge Announcements

Are there AL events set in the World of Greyhawk? I'm not an AL participant, but my understanding is that they only play in settings that have been published for 5e. And if this adventure takes place in space or whatever, any connection to any setting is going to be tenuous anyway.

    Your Typical Game Session

Game night is Friday at 6pm (this changes occasionally to accommodate everyone's work schedule). We meet at a more-or-less local game store (it is a fourty-five minute drive from my house). The store has an open play area in the front, but on Friday nights all the tables are usually occupied by...

D&D General Flip or Twist A D&D Cliche

Humans, elves, dwarves, and halflings all live in scattered tribes on the edge of the Grand Empire, which is a powerful alliance of humanoid nations (orcs, gnolls, ogres, et cetera) that controls most of the world. That's just Strixhaven.

Um actually 🤓 I don't have a copy of the 2e PHB handy, but 1e goes up to different levels for different classes. Clerics, Fighters, and Paladins go up to 11. Illusionists, Rangers, and Thieves go up to 12. Druids go up to 14. Assassins go up to 15. Monks go up to 17. Magic-users go up to 18...

Sarah Silverman leads class-action lawsuit against ChatGPT creator

The concern is that a great deal of the books the AI was trained on may have been acquired illegally. Duchamp didn't steal that toilet. That would be a crime.

The Forgotten Realms is pretty cool, actually. It's generic because it's supposed to be (as the more-or-less default D&D setting, it establishes a baseline from which other settings can deviate). It's extremely detailed, which is good because every area is full of potential story seeds.
