D&D 5E (2014) Why does no one play Goliath?

    There's only one true Goliath!

    Sell me on the Warlock

Although I believe a single-class warlock is totally viable, my only first person experience with the class so far is my MC rogue/monk/warlock. I don't have eldritch blast. The warlock levels are primarily for utility and flavor (holy assassin for the elven church, bound with a touch of power...

    Fun uses for Flavor Cantrips?

The problem with using a relatively short range spell like this, to somehow distract guards, is that you are presumably having to cast it with its verbal component (metamagic to silent cast being the obvious exception).

D&D 5E (2014) DM question: Should I take it all back?

Reminds me of the conclusion of one of the longest campaigns I ever ran. It was AD&D. The Cliff Notes version is that the elven wizard chose in the moment to save his human knight friend from imminent death at the hands of one of the arch villains rather than stop the epic, world-shaking ritual...

    D&D 5E (2014) Polytheistic Clerics

Springboarding off of that: Since it seems like a very thematically tight pantheon-based class build, I'd go with something like this: Instead of the usual, long, all-encompassing list of available cleric spells, tighten it up to a much smaller selection. A handful of spells per spell level...

Water, water everywhere, Nor any drop to drink

I agree. But a badly designed and/or implemented class can contain aspects seeking to tell others how to play while their characters are around it...

    D&D 5E (2014) Share your nat 20 stories

Back in 3.0's heyday I played a rather ridiculous barbarian/psychic warrior/weapon master hodgepodge of classes (there were a few others sprinkled in - we were probably around 10th level at the time) who used a nasty warpick (so capable of doing x5 crit damage). One of the campaign's main...

Water, water everywhere, Nor any drop to drink

Agreed. I've noticed some people get unduly hung up on class nomenclature. As if the class name(s) you wright down on your character sheet somehow dictate how you play the character. I find that very odd. This is double true in the case of the warlord here. We had that very long poll thread...

Unearthed Arcana Actually Talking About the DM's Guild Producs Mentioned In March's Unearthed Arcana

Like I said in the other thread, I'm looking forward to figuring out how I want to incorporate Blood Magic into my upcoming Primeval Thule campaign. It has a lot of potential to make the magic I want to convey feel more visceral and dangerous.

Water, water everywhere, Nor any drop to drink

The same could be said for every game element included (or not yet included) in 5e... But that's not what is happening. At least not if you avoid cherry picking edition-to-edition "conversion". Because every instance of 4e to 5e has resulted in the same paring and limiting of options. Across...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana March 2016 Review

This would seem to run counter to your next paragraph. How many hours do you think they spend writing up the average UA article?

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana March 2016 Review

Is that all WotC did? Are you sure? All they did was spend 10 minutes writing three quick blurbs and providing links.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana March 2016 Review

You make the faulty assumption that I knew I was looking for "blood magic" before I was shown it.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana March 2016 Review

I think there's a lot of mine-able material in the Blood Magic submission for my (still burgeoning) Primeval Thule campaign. I'm still trying to give magic in that setting a lot more S&S flavor and feel. This Blood Magic thing has given me a lot of great ideas.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana March 2016 Review

Speaking of more hours in a day from my last post... That segues nicely into this bit here. Do you think I have that kind of time to peruse all of DMGuild looking for good material? Getting a nod from the devs got me to look their way. Wouldn't have otherwise. And if you think for one second...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana March 2016 Review

Are you going to wave a magic wand to grant the devs more hours in a day? If so, can I get a little of that love sent my way?

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana March 2016 Review

This month's article brought more potential meat to my table than any previous UA before it: a full system of blood magic for use with multiple classes, a plug-n-play mini adventure, and a handful of monsters to add to your games.

Both. After all, what is an UA article, but something you'd find on DMGuild that happens to be written by someone at WotC?
