Water, water everywhere, Nor any drop to drink

    What a coincidence. 4e had a warlord too... ;)

Water, water everywhere, Nor any drop to drink

That's a lot of good inner-party roleplaying right there. Why are we trying to ascribe or force mechanical doodads to those friends' interactions again? And what evidence is there anything mechanically was being gifted between them? What am I missing in all that? Cliff Notes, please... ;)

    D&D 5E (2014) Strength is agile

So you discount the ability to make a skill check to increase your jump attempt. Even though the rules allow for it? Interesting. Either way, from that picture, I could see assigning a 20 strength to his legs, yes. They are what I would consider darn near peak human. Did you have a point to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Strength is agile

Perhaps the initial attempts to compare D&D's skill structure/mechanics with real life is the issue? Just sayin'...

Water, water everywhere, Nor any drop to drink

I agree it is a powerful archetype. I've been playing it since the mid '70s. This, on the other hand, is completely ludicrous and unsupportable.

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlord - Is 5E SRD/DMsGuild a Solution? Is AL a Problem?

Not according to Tony it would seem. Thus, my reason for asking...

Water, water everywhere, Nor any drop to drink

That criteria is precisely why we got the 4e warlord (and others, like warden) in the first place. Niche/mechanic hole-filler.

Water, water everywhere, Nor any drop to drink

No. You are wrong. Those are all classes that have existed since AD&D. I just went back and looked at my old books. Couldn't seem to find a "warlord", though. Oh wait. I spoke too soon. There it is: Fighter. All you have to do is play one with a "leader of men" personality and you were good to...

This exactly. "Leader of men" isn't a class. It's a personality.

    Considerations when Designing a Warlord.

...and the way of record for representing inspirational bolstering. At least according to the devs. <shrug>

So The Jester Made it In

If that's a sword & shield, he looks entirely to fight-y to pass for a "real" warlord. He should instead be sitting in a Lazy-Boy recliner, holding a pom-pom in one hand and a bullhorn in the other. What?... ;)

D&D 5E (2014) Deal Breakers - Or woah, that is just too much

So much win right there. Kudos.

    D&D 5E (2014) Strength is agile

You are correct. A DM can illogically apply the rules such that it would generate illogical results. But I do not see how that is a recrimination of the 5e skill system. IMO, when you approach 5e's skill system in the correct way, these self-created issues fall away. I believe iserith is one of...

D&D 5E (2014) Why no Proficiency bonus to AC?

This. HPs are the leveling scale-up defense of choice for 5e. Not AC. That is bounded.

    D&D 5E (2014) Strength is agile

Again, no. In fact, there is a specific section of the long jump rules for clearing a low obstacle. This is separate from the height achieved in a jump. And the high jump rules make a point of getting into the jump result equaling how far you can "clear" and how high up you can reach. Not how...

    D&D 5E (2014) Strength is agile

I must confess I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to say. Are you attempting to imply arm wrestling would involve a Strength (Athletics) check and not just a Strength check? If so, I couldn't disagree more. And can see why you are having such an issue with 5e's skill system.

    D&D 5E (2014) Strength is agile

Interestingly enough, my 5th-level 8 strength bard even has expertise in it. So he has a +5 Athletics check! He's quite the athlete in spite of his lithe frame and modest physique.

    D&D 5E (2014) Strength is agile

That is exactly why I said you are wrong. That is not how high jump works in D&D. Yep. A very specialized sport. I bet they even have expertise in Athletics... But besides that, this form of bar-clearing high jump (going lateral, landing on your back into foam mats) is also not covered in the...
