D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

Well, sure. But I think I'll wait until WotC demonstrates they were just "rainbow-washing" with earlier efforts before I start assuming they can't take a "strong stance" on any issues. No evidence of this so far, at least to my eyes.

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

Hard disagree. WotC has included strong themes of diversity within D&D 5E, both the core books and many supplements. On top of that, WotC supports LGBQT charities on a regular basis. WotC's hesitance with publishing Dark Sun is that the setting has slavery as a strong component . . . not as...

D&D General New Ravenloft Novel Heir of Strahd Coming Soon

I just finished the novel myself tonight. I agree with the review's criticism's, although I think they are overstated. Strahd isn't ignored, he just isn't well written, as are the protagonists. Still, the novel was "okay" and I enjoyed it, even though I struggled to get past the first few...

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

As per the article above . . . "The 224-page book isn't a rulebook but rather a licensed book that focuses on the lore of dragons." So, no statblocks, it's not that kind of book.

D&D 5E (2024) How's the adoption of the new Goliath types going?

The gith's story is related to the illithids, the gith themselves are not "illithid-lite". We got a lot of this late in the 3E cycle, with "lite" versions of quite a few monsters as PC's . . . for the most part, I really didn't like it. A few hit, but most left me cold, like the new goliath...

D&D 5E (2024) How's the adoption of the new Goliath types going?

I haven't played one of the new goliath options yet, but the idea leaves me cold for some reason. I'm okay with dragonborn mirroring their possible metallic and chromatic ancestry, but making goliaths mimic their giantish ancestry . . . I don't like it. I prefer thinking about goliaths as more...

    D&D 5E (2024) Our book just launched on D&D Beyond - AMA

Having the adventures in the compendium, with easy-click links is nice . . . But the maps, okay, that puts this (for me) into the realm of "worth it"! I didn't get the digital maps first time around, having them would be nice! Are there plans to release the rest of the one-shots on DDB?

    D&D 5E (2024) Our book just launched on D&D Beyond - AMA

I backed your One Shot Wonders Kickstarter at the digital pledge for about $30 for the PDF. What prompted the decision to offer only a part of the product, separated into 3 different DDB products? Having OSW in the DDB Compendium would be nice, but $30 total for only a third of the adventures...

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

I see the Luthen/Kleya relationship as more of a partnership, both bringing different strengths, weaknesses, and skills to the task. Luthen and Kleya together were Axis. Luthen was in charge, but relied heavily on Kleya's drive and skills.

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

Do we really need answers to all of those questions? Well, I'm good with how Luthen's backstory was developed in the last 3 episodes. I also think it is a strength to the characterization that Luthen was a former soldier who built himself into a "man of mystery". Clues that Luthen was a Jedi...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

They haven't been specific, but did make it clear that City State began development as part of a larger deal with Judge's Guild before we all learned how terrible the current owners of Judges Guild are. Once the community became aware of the Bledsaw's antisemitism, Goodman distanced themselves...

D&D 5E (2014) The Tale of the First World: What Do We Know About it and How Does it Connect to the Rest of the Lore? (+)

I just finished reading The Chronicles of Amber (1970-1991) by Roger Zelazny, a series of novellas about immortals from the City of Amber. In the setting, Amber is the "first city" and all other places in the multiverse are "shadows" of Amber. I think this idea meshes well with the "First World"...

D&D 5E (2014) The Tale of the First World: What Do We Know About it and How Does it Connect to the Rest of the Lore? (+)

The "Odyssey of the Dragonlords" adventure from Modiphius presents a Greek myth style setting where the gods are all dragons, and your player characters can join them!

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

Yeah, Star Wars storytelling seems to fall into the same patterns regardless if it's the Old Republic, the Empire, the New Republic, or the future "Legacy" Galactic Alliance! I haven't gotten into the newer High Republic era, other than the TV show, "The Acolyte" . . . maybe that avoids some of...

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

I really enjoyed the "Legacy" story arc, at least at the beginning, but . . . the Sith Empire rises again! And only a Skywalker can save us! But I really dug the more "gray" Imperial Remnant, the embittered smuggler Skywalker, and the slick Imperial Knights with their silver lightsabers!

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

I wouldn't say the old EU was "realistic" in that way . . . Luke, Leia and crew all had extremely bad karma they were paying off post-rebellion . . . in both continuities I suppose. But that's nothing to how many times the Sith Empire was defeated . . . only to rise from the ashes a couple of...

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

Heh, I just watched a "history" of the Star Wars galaxy (old EU) . . . and yeah, it reminded me of the same thing. Super convoluted and our heroes of the rebellion could never catch a break!

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

While Rogue One and Andor can be tough viewing and are certainly different from our usual Star Wars style storytelling . . . this is what I love about both shows. They don't pull many punches. I think few of our characters, good or bad, are going to make it past the finale tomorrow except Andor...

D&D General The First Demise of TSR: Gygax's Folly

Good point. I've also "judged" Williams' decisions as if TSR was publically traded. Doesn't really change my opinion much, but you're correct, she was well within her legal and ethical rights to push Buck Rogers. And we got some good products out of it! Wish we could get digital PDFs (legally)...

D&D General The First Demise of TSR: Gygax's Folly

Yeah, "nepotism" isn't quite the correct term, but it's close enough for me. Instead of promoting a family member, Williams "promoted" an IP owned by the family. Buck Rogers wasn't developed at TSR because it was going to be a good franchise for TSR, it was to take advantage of the Dille family...
