List all of your character names! *read the instructions*

Huh, let's see how many characters I can remember. Michael Bertoulli, demonslayer for the Hidden Order of St Gregory Tomas Dominguez, Gypsy hexblade Gregor Ivanov, mad scientist Gene Edwards, human Rogue/Ranger/Ixiptla/Jaguar Cultist of Tezcatlipoca Gabriel of Brione, human cleric (used the...

How do you like your halflings best?

I like my halflings as the setting's Gypsy analogue, wandering from place to place, not really trusted by anybody around them. IMC, most of them are still like this, but there's a population that's effectively been placed on reservations. They're somewhat more like the hobbit image, but they're...

Do You Have An Ioun Stone?

I have a character with several, but they're all the dull grey ones that don't do anything. He's a psionic artificer, and he uses them as objects on which to hang other spells, with the Spell Storing Item artificer infusion. Always accessible, so he doesn't have to pull them out of his belt, and...

    Running an Urban Adventure

Expect that they're going to move from place to place. Unlike in a dungeon, there are significant areas between encounters that aren't significant, and will tend to be glossed over. You don't have to map everywhere they go; just have a good idea of the layout of the city. They say they want to...

Is it just me, or are the Munchkin card games rather lame?

You're right that there's not a whole ton of strategic depth to them. It's a dogpile kind of game, where almost always one person gets way ahead, everyone else starts attacking them, and one person sneaks past everybody else for the win. Most powers aren't the kind of thing that are going to win...

    Hot Fuzz

I've seen it twice now. Great movie, though the second viewing got a bit slow during the buildup to the giant action scenes. Once you know what's going on, watching him figure the whole thing out isn't all that entertaining. I still laughed through the whole movie, though. Hilarious stuff. If...

    The Alignment Game

I'd call Hal Neutral Good for most of his career. Contrast him to Green Arrow, who is (extremely) Chaotic Good. He's not willing to follow Ollie on all his eccentricities, but he's not one to follow or break rules just because they're rules. He's about helping people and doing the right thing...

    The Alignment Game

Also LG, just not exalted about it. Some interpretations might have been NG or LN, but for the most part, he's LG. Conan the Barbarian.

    Heroes Season 1(#21)---5/07/07-'The Hard Part'

The impression I got was that if the other person was around, Peter automatically started using the power, even without being aware of it. That's why he went invisible when Claude showed up, and why he's about to explode now that he's met Ted. If the other person isn't around, though, he has to...

    Funniest. Things. Ever

Tordek was, by far, the best part. "The best thing about being a dwarf? No one outside the mountain knows ANYTHING about dwarven culture. What are they gonna do, argue with you? You're the dwarf!"

    Most Useful (Non-Weapon) Magic Items

I had a character once with a piece of chaos metal that he could shape into any mundane item he wanted, as long as it weighed less then twenty pounds. Very handy item, since it meant that I didn't have to carry all the random junk you use for adventuring.

Living the Lie: The Philosophical Illusionist

Never tell anyone the entire truth, about anything. After all, deception is a skill, and like any other skill, it must be practiced. Even your best friends shouldn't be entirely sure about what's true and what isn't. But don't make it hurtful lies, or something that's going to get you into...

Technical Difficulties: Windows won't start up

I would just pop in the Windows CD, reboot, and choose the Repair a Windows Installation option when that comes up. Sounds like one of your drivers is acting screwy, and that's what's causing your problems. Repairing the installation should give you a clean set, and will probably get you up and...

    Longsword PCs

In our current group, we have one character with a long sword. She's a sword-and-board fighter, and the only one who fights with a single melee weapon. That's out of a group of six. Thinking back, I can't think of too many long swords in our current group at all. It seems like sort of a boring...

[xkcd] Someone must start a campaign using this map

Look straight south from the CU in the Ocean of Subculture, on that chain of islands there.

Two Aquatic Race Variants (now with Feats)

I wouldn't peg those lizardfolk at LA +0, myself. More like a strong +1 or a weak +2. +5 natural armor and three natural attacks are too good for +0. If you want to make them +0, I'd drop it down to a +1 or +2. Also, you need to list which natural attack is primary, and which is secondary. For...

[xkcd] Someone must start a campaign using this map

The ocean is full of pron (prawn?) And yeah, I agree that ENWorld would have to be one of the islands between the Sea of Culture and the Ocean of Subculture.

    Favored Enemy Rationale

I don't even think that gets around it. There's no discussion in the rules text about it being precision-based damage any more - all weapon damage gets the bonus, with nothing about conditions that negate it. As far as I can tell, if you roll damage against your favored enemy, you get the bonus.

Harry Potter Magical Items: Moody's Mad Eye

The Invisibility Cloak in Harry Potter doesn't seem to be nearly as useful as Improved Invis in D&D, though. It seems more like a Sheet of Invisibility - you have to be completely covered by the cloth for it to do you any good. I can't picture anybody fighting while using it, for example, and...

    Ghost Items?

I'm assuming you mean the real versions of their equipment, rather than the spectral copy they have on them. I'd say sure, as long as somebody didn't take the animated weapon, they could use telekinesis on it just fine. I wouldn't allow them to have and use both at the same time, though - that...
