What Happens If CODENAME: MORNINGSTAR Doesn't Fund?

During Morrus's interview with Trapdoor at Gencon, Rachel Bowen said there were "two and a half" people on the team. They staffed up to sixteen since then?

WotC (re)Releases 1983's World of Greyhawk Fantasy Game Setting for AD&D 1st Edition

There isn't much in the way of stats, so yes you can use it with 5e. This is a great product if you want some context to run the classic AD&D modules in, or if you homebrew and just want a great map and some place names to start you off.

    D&D 5E (2014) DMG Preview: The Multiverse

Interesting, my favorite settings, Greyhawk and Dark Sun are both listed as Sword and Sorcery. I guess that's my jam. I never considered a mashup, but I guess it could work. Dark Sun as future Greyhawk maybe?

    D&D 5E (2014) So...warlocks?

This is interesting, I had automatically translated "after a short rest" to mean "encounter power". I'm not sure I'd know how to handle an hour rest period. Seems like a long time if you're running a site based adventure.

    D&D 5E (2014) so, mountain dwarf wizards...

I don't mind sub-optimal characters, if they are fun. What I mind is worthless characters. The way the math worked in 3e it was just very easy to create a crappy character. I always felt bad for one of my players who after 6 or so levels of rogue wanted to dabble in wizard. I accommodated...

    D&D 5E (2014) so, mountain dwarf wizards...

I totally agree, by 5th level you'd have to have given up on the melee attacks if you are a pure wizard. I just have this idea for this guy at 1st level, a dwarf wizard who acts more like a fighter. Has the soldier background. I'm thinking he's naturally adept at magic which made him an...

    D&D 5E (2014) so, mountain dwarf wizards...

I've been thinking about this dwarven 'spell axe'. Not that it's mechanically superior, but just that it sounds fun, and won't completely suck. I'm thinking 17 Str and 14 Int. I know that sounds crazy but you are only +1 modifier off from a 16 int. You lose one prepared spell and +1 to your...

    Do You Read This News?

The news page is why I come to EN World. I look at forums occasionally, but it's much more about the front page. I doubt I'd come here if it were gone.

    Against the Slavers reprint

I'm not sure which is more 'iconic' but I absolutely loved running my running my players through the A series. We ran GDQ after, and that was fun too. But I love that mid level range. The S modules are all great, but they are not really connected, just a series of high level 'killer'...

    Reaper Miniatures Bones! Kickstarter Project

Currently at 205 minis! Just added more Pathfinder iconics today. By morning there will be 4 more figs added to the pile of stuff you get for $100.

The Genesis Roleplaying System Kickstarter Project

This looks great, I'm a sucker for alternate resolution mechanics in rpgs.

Future of D&D Keynote Speech [UPDATE - with video!]

So, no RPG products in the next 6-12 months? It wasn't clear what the format of the 2 FR adventures was going to be. Absolutely no discussion of D&D Insider? I guess the older edition book could be part of that?

Review: Dark Sun Campaign Setting by Wizards of the Coast

I felt as you do about the Campaign Setting being slightly lacking, until I got the Creature Catalog. It really is a necessary companion to the setting guide, and a must for DMs.

So, Dark Sun: It's officially out. What do you think of it?

I'm loving it, but probably just because I loved the original version. I've gotten my old stuff out and am going through it as much as the new stuff. Still I think they did an admirable job in general. Themes are a great way to pull in some Dark Sun concepts without putting out a ton of new...

What to purchase for a 7 year old

She should get her own set of dice for starters. Then maybe some minis. The "Practical Guide To..." series should be a good read for a seven year old. As for rules, just buy what you want!

    Talisman 4th Edition

Would the reaper expansion be compatible with the original 4th edition? Are there references to fate?

Which of the following 3PP v.3.5 products should I buy?

Ptolus I voted Ptolus. It has the highest production value of any RPG book I've ever seen. The art, the cartography, the layout, the editing, all is top notch. A monumental achievement and the pinnacle of the 3rd edition era of RPGs. Also it has Chaoitech included on CD, so that's like...

    GameMastery Item Cards

Morrus, how do your players keep track of their item cards? My players are lucky to remember their character sheet.

    Did Bad make D&D Good?

I find it funny that 4th edition is the first version of the game where you can actually play a devil worshiper as a character (infernal pact warlock), yet no one seems to care much. Heck you can even look like the devil. Folks these days are too busy getting upset over alien side-boobage in...

Can you do a "diamond" shaped blast?

If you did want to allow cone-shaped blasts, they should encompass the same number of squares as a standard blast, in this case, 9. So you would just need to chop the taper off that cone diagram. Personally I'd leave it alone because a square shaped blast is alot faster to adudicate than a...
