    Healing Potions seem woeful

Healing surges are actually a really good mechanic. They solve all sorts of game management issues. It's just that it doesn't make any sense, in the in-game physics that we have become familiar with. Hit points don't make any sense either, but we've built up (and been given) rationalizations...

    Are Eladrin the New Gnomes?

Eladrin/Elves "Elves! The race so nice they named them twice."

    Keep on the Shadowfell Review

Mixed reviews here. I ran my regular group through 3 encounters. I have 5 players so no problems there. This group has been playing 3e for 6 years together, so there were definitely a bunch of 'but this doesn't make sense' comments, mainly around hit points, healing surges, and dying (which...

    "Charging provokes attacks of opportunity."

This charge provoking aoo confusion really threw off my first playtest with Keep on the Shadowfell, since the first encounter says the minion kobolds must charge if they are in range. Well, they were all in range, they all charged, all took opportunity attacks (as I was then interpreting it)...

Excerpt: Minions. Go forth mine minions! Bring havoc with your 1 hp [merged]

So what do we know about alchemists fire, acid flasks, caltrops, environmental effects, fist fights, etc and how they interact with minions? And is a 10 fall always lethal?

Star Wars Saga RPG: Square Book? WTF

Indeed, Borders stuck the book with the rest of the Star Wars books, like the visual guides, not with the rpgs. I can't say it really fit in there either though, most of those books are much bigger.

    Favorite PHB Iconic

I'm surprised and pleased by all the Gimble love. I'm the proud owner of Wayne Reynolds' original painting from the PHB. Initially I was bit miffed by the inexplicable 3.5 conversion of gnomes to bard masters, but Gimble conviced me.

Dragons... has the icon been lost?

Not sure that a dragon that is either invulnerable or a 1-shot kill would be that fun in D&D.

    What's your Ptolus number?

#391, ordered in March. Wow. I'm just overwhelmed. It arrived at work today and I've been stealthily checking out the CD contents. Can't wait to take it home. Question is will I make it back to work tommorow?

    What is Ptolus anyway?

This isn't quite true. There are other extras that people who buy the book DO still get. A double sided full color poster map. Three bound in fabric bookmarks and four cardstock bookmarks. 16 black and white and 8 full-color handouts Eberron, for comparison, has none of these features. Add...

Thanks to Le Games, SEP, Heyoka, and Ambient for the PDFs. I had actually donated a small amount before prizes were announced, and it was fun to watch all the free stuff roll into my inbox unexpectedly.

Anakin's path to darkness too steep! (SPOILERS)

Ulitmately, the Jedi order betrayed itself. It was Mace Windu choosing the 'easy' way, in trying to just kill Palpatine rather than take him prisoner, that forced Anakin to take sides. He broke the Jedi code, as did the Jedi when they asked Anakin to spy on Palpatine.

    Heroes Of Battle SUCKS!!! (IMHO)

I really like Heroes of Combat. It's one of the best books I've read on running encounters in D&D. Not just for the battlefield even, the advice is generally excellent. I'm not that interested in crunch, but what is provided seems reasonable to me. This book provides me exactly what I was...
