Wrath & Glory Core Rulebook Cover Reveal

This cover is making it very hard for me not to pre-order. I'm a sucker for wonderful evocative art. C7 really knocks it out of the park on art direction. cough "placeholder art Eberron" cough

D&D 5E (2014) Greg Tito Gives First Look at Eberron: Rising from the Last War

I don't quite get the hate about Wayfarer's. Getting involved with early editions is getting pretty common (Pathfinder, 5E, Pathfinder 2...) and it is a fun way to get early access to toys while seeing how they evolve in the hands of the community and professionals. I'd see it if they hadn't...

D&D 5E (2014) That Eberron Cover Is Just A Placeholder

A strong observation and a crux: for those of us who do know, we really want the most stunning eye-catching cover for Eberron. The place-holder art felt like a stab in the heart for long-time fans desperate for more recognition of their darling.

D&D 5E (2014) That Eberron Cover Is Just A Placeholder

My money is on this. The beauty of Eberron is that it had so many interesting core NPCs to build campaigns around. There really wasn't one single standout (maybe Lady Vol or the Lord of Blades).

D&D 5E (2014) That Eberron Cover Is Just A Placeholder

Of course, those were all adventure paths. This is a setting book. Obviously it should have Keith Baker and his hat on the cover, riding the lightning rail, fighting Darguul mercenaries on float-disks in Sharn.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Fiasco, Shadow Profiteer, Resist & Remember, and more

I'm honestly curious where all of these setting and (yet another) tabletop RPG Kickstarters go. Are there groups that enjoy trying out lots of different things all the time? My group is pretty stick-in-the-mud one ruleset/setting at a time. Maybe I'm just a little jealous of groups that get...

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

The critical trick in putting newer core races (etc.) into older settings is how to do it while maintaining the flavor of the original designs. Adding a clown-race to Ravenloft with powers to "delight" and "aura of happy children" just wouldn't work. But sad clowns doing trago-comedy... With...

Sorry if you felt I was being negative =) That cover certainly sticks out whether you like it or not. Just a bit of a D&D art nerd, me. Cheers.

Pathfinder 2E Complexity vs. Depth -- A Look Inside Pathfinder 2nd Edition

Honestly, the number of days I've had this article open and can't get myself to finish reading it about sums up my feelings on PF2. Sigh. They do good work but I guess I'm too old and busy. settles back down into steel garbage can and pulls lid on top

D&D 5E (2014) That Eberron Cover Is Just A Placeholder

Yeah, I guess that's it. It is like talking about sports cars and someone mentions that the Tesla S could have a nicer interior. Sure, it is sort-of-relevant, and sure, it could be nicer, but the point of the Tesla is to get you an electric car. The point of Acq. Inc. is to highlight Penny...

D&D 5E (2014) That Eberron Cover Is Just A Placeholder

Mockingbird cited the Acq. Inc. book as the only "miss" on WOTC's part in their opinion. To me, I wouldn't consider it a miss since I don't consider it part of the core line. Semantics me.

D&D 5E (2014) That Eberron Cover Is Just A Placeholder

I don't think it is fair to consider the Acq. Inc. art to be representative of the 5E art direction. It sits in an odd place as an (originally) 3rd party book including the art direction. I mean, heck, most of the art in it is from Penny Arcade's stable like Krahulik, Straub, and NurseNormal...

D&D 5E (2014) That Eberron Cover Is Just A Placeholder

It isn't really fair to lump in Acq. Inc. since it was a pet project that WOTC decided to publish as an official book.

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

I had a hard time with Eberron in 4E. Dark Sun felt much better. Keith wrapped so much goodness in the 3/3.5E crunch that it was hard for me to see Eberron in a 4E setting. Very curious to see how it looks in 5E.

D&D 5E (2014) Here Are The Races In The New Eberron Book

I have a hard time getting excited about settings like Greyhawk and Mystara because they aren't distinct enough (or in Mystara's case rich enough) to stand out from Forgotten Realms. Of course I'm a dirty heretic who thinks Spelljammer should be married to Planescape in a double tome of...

D&D 5E (2014) That Eberron Cover Is Just A Placeholder

Thank the Nine! That warforged is still missing something really important on his forehead. Maybe he's a lame iron golem instead. Yeah, that's it. Escaped from the Fifth Element Part 2 costume department.

DDAL Oracle of War is the New Eberron Adventurer's League Season

I hope so. Planescape and DiTerlizzi aren't separable for me. Just like Reynolds and Eberron and Lockwood and 3E/all D&D dragons. Great art is a big part of 5E! Don't let me down art director!

D&D 5E (2014) Amazon now says Sept 3rd for the Eberron book

Maybe it really should be November 19th so they can print about 50,000 more copies of the special edition cover. My god. Keith Baker and Wayne Reynolds must be rolling in their, uh.. beds? Wayne better be careful, he's probably got 322 things belted, pocketed, glued, and hovering about him...
