I think they're heading in the right direction with the combat paths, though I have two hopes... one: more than just the archery and two weapon paths (maybe a mobility path and an expertise path, among others)... two: I hope to all that is holy that they do away with the ridiculous double weapon...

check out the diamond warrior in the Mind's Eye section of wotc's official D&D website.. they're psychic monks, and they have higher b.a.b. when they fight unarmed... should be what you're looking for.. check out the other prestige classes there as well, you may find others you like..
