    Character Ability Score House Rules

I can definitely see the advantages of your con rule. It looks like it would make combat quicker and less lethal. Not really for me though, I like lethal. I really like the Int bonus vs. Illusions. It makes complete sense and I'll yoink that. How does the presence rating work? It sounds...

    I hate armor

I don't know what you're talking about with reliance on armor. Good equipment and feat selection can easily take care of that. I had an 18th level character who didn't wear armor and had an AC that was so high nothing in the MM could hit him without a natural 20. Of course that was an...

    Character Ability Score House Rules

Something I've noticed is that "what are your houserules" posts tend to be fairly unproductive, mostly due to the huge amount of rules presented. That or people just give a taste of their house rules to keep it short. I think a good fix for that would be posts for small sections of house...

    New Homebrew Races

I like what you did with warforged. I don't like warforged, but I do like the little twist you gave them.

    Why The Niches?

As has already been mentioned, it allows a guage for style of play. If I'm looking for a game and I find a group that plays high magic I know I want to avoid that group. And no, this doesn't isolate me from something I might enjoy. I've been playing long enough that I know exactly what kind...

Extremely low mental atts - How to play?

Just don't exaggerate his stupidity. A 6 intelligence is dumb, but not incredibly so. An 8 wisdom is only slightly below average. People far too often forget that about 1 in 200 humans have a 3 intelligence. Nearly 10% of all humans have an intelligence score of 6 or below. He's not that...

    The "mundane"

When it comes to world design, the devil's in the details. Yeah, different kinds of dragons, chimeras, and other magical beasts are nice but what about the common creatures. Are the breeds of dogs and horses different, or are they just like the real world's with different names? Or do people...

Adding Some Chocolate to Vanilla Settings

The main problem with vanilla settings is that they're never actually vanilla anymore. Greyhawk and FR may at one point have been, but FR especially has been ruined by odd happenings, inter-dimensional invasions, and just plain trying to squeeze in every new supposedly "cool" idea. I wish...

Exclusive Races/Classes in Dragon: Why the Angst?

The anti-paladin was the only one of those classes that was a Dragon class, and it wasn't unbalanced at all. The OA ninja also wasn't unbalanced, I could see someone wanting to play one even though I wouldn't. The cavalier doesn't count because it came from the book that must not be named.

Exclusive Races/Classes in Dragon: Why the Angst?

You do make a good point, at least as far as 1e goes. That wasn't really an issue in the 2e days, which I consider to be Dragons best years, though. However, even in 1ed most of the for PC material was bell balanced (though often goofy.)

Exclusive Races/Classes in Dragon: Why the Angst?

I'd have to agree that was definately the golden age of Dragon. More than that, TSR in general had far better writers then than at any other time. Beautifully thought out game worlds, balanced play, man that was the sweet spot. Nothing against d20, I actually like the 3e core rules far more...

Exclusive Races/Classes in Dragon: Why the Angst?

I guess we have to agree to disagree. Prior to 3e, most of the text in Dragon was fluff. What crunch there was was usually balanced fairly well. Now character development has fallen over the wayside in favor of builds. DND has gone from about 75% roleplayer-25% powergamer to the reverse, and...

Exclusive Races/Classes in Dragon: Why the Angst?

Dragon magazine didn't used to suck. From 3e on nothing in Dragon was ever balanced well.

    Class:The Musketeer

Didn't read it. If you wanted people to read it you obviously wouldn't have chosen black text. Too bad too, I love swashbuckling characters.

Potential Problems In A New AD&D Campaign

Some class limitations should remain for flavor purposes. Few things in 3e get my boxers in a bunch quite like a dwarven wizard. Blasphemy! This is trickier. Level limitations are horrible. In games that go over a certain level it makes demihumans unplayable and in low level games it does...

What alignment is Cobra Commander - the Official Word

Cobra Commander is chaotic wang. Destro needs to shoot him in the head and take over.

    Alternity clone?

Alternity was doing fine until TSR collapsed. It died for the same reason Birthright did, timing.

Half-races or ancestral blood as feats?

Why no Humanblooded feat? Perhaps +1 skill point per level.

    Inconsistant/Arbitrary rules...

My favorite was the specialty priests of Horus. They were paladins, except they were chaotic good and cast spells as clerics of equal level. Ridiculous.

    Removing 3.X Iterative Attacks (Suggestions)

There are two options I've been toying with for a while but never implemented. One is this: Wierd that I came up with the exact same thing. The other is +1 to threat ranges for every 5 points of BAB.
