    D&D 5th Edition!!! (WITH POLL!!!)

One thing I would definitely like to see is a bunch of optional rules like 2e. For those of you who have forgotten how customizable 2e is, reread the PHB and count how many optional rules there are.

    Which Setting for You?

    Easily Forgotten Realms, specifically Waterdeep.

    Leadership Feat

Ah yes, because we all know large scale battles ruin d&d. Characters should stick to rooting around in tiny little underground "dungeons" and like it!

    Leadership Feat

Not only can your cohorts have leadership, but so can your higher level followers. This is how armies are built.

    D&D 5th Edition!!! (WITH POLL!!!)

The backbone of the system would be 3e, while incorporating some of the better ideas from other publishers. They should especially take a long look at what the folks over at Mongoose did for the Conan RPG. Bring back the limitations on wizards, ala 2e. Casters will always be more powerful...

    CONTROVERSIAL QUESTION: Difficult Subject Matter.

With their low birth rate and conservative attitudes I'd think the dwarves would be very pro-life. They might make an exception for half-orcs due to their hatred of them, but I'd lean as a DM more towards not permitting it by their laws. The child would grow up ostracized, with no friends and...

    Favorite/Hated Race - and Why?

Favorite Race: Humans, hands down. Most Hated: Elves. Especially shiny elves with furry pets.

D&D 3.x Vote for your favorite core Class!!! (3.5)

The majority of opponents have been evil in every single campaign I've played in for the past 20+ years, and I'd put cash money down that 99% of the other dnd players out there are the same. That only came about in 3e. In all prior editions the paladin only had to look in a direction and...

D&D 3.x Vote for your favorite core Class!!! (3.5)

My problem with paladins isn't bad DMing, it's the ability to detect evil at will. I like games with a lot of NPC interactions, the ability to identify the bad guys at will absolutely ruins the game for me.

    Multiclassing is for the weak.

Exactly, before the Swashbuckler class was published the best "swashbucker" was the simple fighter/thief or fighter/bard. I still think the fighter/bard is the best, but wish there was no spellcasting.

    Multiclassing is for the weak.

lol, though I'd bet on him taking 2 levels of barbarian before bailing for thief for a few levels before moving on to fighter. Conan learns different fighting styles from all over Hyboria, he'd be fairly feat intensive build.

    Yummy Iron Rations

A recent episode of Good Eats mentioned that panforte was commonly carried by travelling knights due to it's high caloric and nutritional value. Panforte is a sort of fruitcake popular in Italy. I thought it might be interesting to create a thread of foods that could constitute "iron rations"...

    Multiclassing is for the weak.

Bah, multi-classing allows for realistic non-stereotype characters. Even Conan would have had 3 classes: Barbarian/Thief/Fighter.

    Favorite OGL Supplement?

Another vote for From Stone to Steel.

    Who creates your character backgrounds?

Writing pc backgrounds for the players is a big no. These characters must belong to the players. The farthest I'll go is I'll give guidelines or limitations (all the characters must be human commers from the same village). Players have taken over NPCs, but that was entirely their own decision.

    Halflings or Hobbits?

I treat hobbits and hin as two distinct races with distinct languages and cultures, but both are dismissively called halflings by the bigs. If you really wanna egg them on you can call the pecks.

If you have played 3.5e regularly within the past 5 years, what are you playing now?

Running an E6 variant of the Conan RPG. Trying desperately to get a 2e game going due to the near impossibility of finding a group to play E6 with.

    Concentration

    I've always assumed this.

D&D 3.x Lightning Bolt 3.0/3.5 vs older editions

That's not exactly how it worked. In 2e the caster picked a point within 40 yards +10 yards per level. The lighting bolt originates at that point and goes in a straight line "away from the caster." The bolt was either 10 feet wide and 40 feet long or it was 5 feet wide and 80 feet long; no...
