EN Worlders: Are You Normal Gamers

Back when I was healthy I definitely stood out among gamers. Having 23 inch arms and a 55 inch chest of muscle definitely was not the norm. Now I have the more "normal" gut and "nerdy" look, so fit in much more.

How many Gaming Systems Have You Used in the Past Year?

In the last year? Well, I don't keep a record, but I'll get it as close as I can: Conventions: Dresden Files Cthonian Stars Mouse Guard Starblazer Adventures Traveller Others, I am sure, just forgetting. DMed: Castles and Crusades Starblazer Adventures Aces and Eights Traveller Savage Worlds...

Tarasque: Have you ever encoutered one?

I've used it a couple of times, but I have used their "larval stage" versions far more often. I first "encountered" one back in my 1E days, my PC lost its left arm. We had a wish spell on a Luckblade in the party, so were able to ultimately defeat it, but it was a difficult and ugly fight...

How often do you include NPCs primarily for roleplaying reasons?

Its always been my experience that most players do very minimal "role" play, if any at all. Very few have been into any greater degree of RP than that. One of the reasons I think I have fallen in love with L5R is because "role" play has always been such a big part of the game ever since I was...

Favorite D&D setting (of those listed)?

Yep. I last ran Ravenloft in 2002, but I am getting ready to run a campaign there again. Life is too unpredictable, especially when it comes to what RPG games get played. I keep EVERYTHING unless I have to get rid of it. Only RPG material I get rid of is stuff I flat out do not like.

How often do you include NPCs primarily for roleplaying reasons?

I would guess so, at least prior to 4E. Only kingdom with a "King" that I remember that also has strong elven communities nearby.

How often do you include NPCs primarily for roleplaying reasons?

I have craftsmen and enchanters and herb specialists and the like that my players tend to get too "know" and trust. much like a trusted merchant in the real world, so those get statted up and developed, others I just do "on the fly" or pull out of my various resource books, like Fly Buffalo's...

How often do you convert dungeons/adventures to your current system?

My C&C group has been on "old modules" kick for the last coupe of years. So I converted the Giant series all the way up to and including Queen, and after that we started up another campaign starting off with the Saltmarsh series, UK2 and UK2, currently Lost Caverns, with Tharizdun next...

Extra copies of Tome of Horrors Swords and Wizardry.

Ah, so that why you phrased the "50" the way you did, the average of a random roll! So 10 to 100 copies it is, then.

Next year, I'm back to running AD&D

I went back to old school gaming because I got so burned out it was do that or get out of gaming all together after 20 years. Even so, I think after you go back and apply some ideas you have learned from 3E and 4E as house rules, you may never go back to 3E and 4E. Just don't be afraid to do...

Extra copies of Tome of Horrors Swords and Wizardry.

In his news blog dated for today is where he lets it be known he will have extra's of the S&W version, as for Paizo's PAthfinder copies, unless they sold out in pre order I imagine when the copies come in around Sept. 3rd they will have more to sell. News Cost of the S&W is likely the same as...

Extra copies of Tome of Horrors Swords and Wizardry.

Bill posted today that he did end up getting 50 extra copies of the S&W ToH, so if you've been regretting not buying the print version of this nearly 700 page book of monster awesomeness, Swords and Wizardry style, you still have a chance.

Queen of the Demonweb Pits - what's so bad?

I loved it when I played through it many years ago, and we had great fun when I wrapped up GMing the whole series last year at 13th and 14th level. There was some weird wonkiness to be found throughout the whole series, not just Q1, but like any good game master I made it work for my group and...

Campaign Maps now on sale from Gale Force Nine

Any location that has an better "blow up"? Even with my glasses on I can't see the detail well enough to know if I like the FR map. The over all big features certainly look good, but good maps are in the details.
